Is it really rare? Original or put together?

Man this is a beauty. Out of my league, but really a nice package with the bag, stock, grip cap. Wonder if it is original or put together model.

What do you pros think?

Cannot say for certain but I would say it is legit. I know Ruger did some tang safety model 77s with the same pattern stock around the same time frame. So it would not surprise me for them to make up some 77/22s with the same style stock. I bought a stock off Ebay for my 270 tang safety. Nicest looking laminate stock I have ever seen. It is also checkered. Wish someone would offer this color pattern again the colors are very rich and deep.

The case is new and the scope is junk and the price is high in my opinion. But he did buy it from Cabelas so the starting bid is probable not much more than Cabelas screwed him out out of.

Yes , that is a factory rifle. It might be rare but still not worth the asking price to me. Mike probably hit the nail on the head with the Cabela's comment.

My memory says these green laminate first generation stocks were first showcased at a mid 80's NRA Annual Meeting, essentially to find out what the viewing Members thought of them. Stephen Vogel told me that positive comments and acceptance were overwhelming. It did take some time to produce the first limited runs, of which the three models are shown by one of our Forum members. These "greenies" are seldom seen, being more than 20 years old.........These were in the very early forefront of using laminates for commercial products, altho the Germans had done so for the Mauser bolt actions.......Others may have further observations. 8)

I don't have the mini in the green but I have The 10/22RZ- 77/22RZ -M77RZ 30/06-270 and 7mm Mag and the M77DZV-308

Man, that is one that I need for my collection of these green laminates. I have the three that G2 shows above, boxed as well, along with the following:

But I don't yet have a 77/22 or a 77V in the green "Z" laminate.

Yup...Ruger offered the first of their laminates, the green RZ models in 1986. I've heard as few as 196 of the 77/22R-Z produced but have never comfirmed. These were factory offereings, not distributor specials.
the 77/22 with grip cap brings up an interesting question tough. Do all of the 77/22R-Z have the grip cap? This is a feature that was eliminated on the tang-safety M77 not long after it was released.
An interesting sidenote to the RZ models. WBR thought he had the exclusive on the RZ color laminate...that is until a couple other companies came out with models with the same laminate colors. Ticked the old man off so he dropped this color of laminate. Must have figured out later that he really had no right to an "exclusive" color of laminate as he produced this color in limited numbers on other models later on (namely other runs of the 10/22).

Chet is right. WBR got ticked when, I think it was Savage, came out with the exact same stock! If I remember correctly the mini-14 is probabaly the least produced..............Coogs.
