Is a little barrel movement with the slide back normal?

I have a Ruger 1911 and think it's a GREAT gun. Last night I noticed, for the first time, that when I have the slide back (and locked) that I can move the barrel back and forth horizontal (not up and down vertical). The movement is very, very small, but enough to notice when I look into the chamber.

This may be completely normal, but I had not noticed it before. Thought I'd check with some of the experts here. Any reason for me to be concerned?

Most if not all my 1911s do that. If the guns functions fine, nothing to worry about at all.

When the slide is back and locked the locking lugs are not engaged so the movement you see is from the barrel moving a little at the barrel ink. Once it goes into battery the lugs on the barrel go up into the recesses in the slide and that locks everything up tight.

So, bottom line, nothing to worry about.
