I've been trading letters with the Social Security Administration for the last 2 years. My wife's accountant made a mistake on my 2021 federal tax form and the S.S. folks decided to not pay me in 2023. We filed an amended tax declaration in March or April of 2023 and actually got a refund a few months later... but it seems the Social Security people can't find or retrieve this information even though they had no problem getting the first incorrect information. I have sent them a copy of the amended form, my part, three times but it seems they don't want that now. What they want is proof from the IRS.
Their latest letter says this:
" Please provide us with proof that you filed this amended tax return. It cannot be a copy of the 2021 amended tax return, since it does not prove that the amendment was filed and the IRS has not yet updated your earning record with us. Please obtain proof for the IRS and submit the proof to us with in 30 days."
does anyone know how you do this?
