Yessir, the "automatic" watch is a self winding mechanical watch. It winds itself with the movement of your arm. Look at the picture of the back of the watch and you can see the winding mechanism. No batteries ever!

Yes, it's very slightly slightly raised. Obviously the magnifier for the date is raised as well.
