Input on 10/22 Light-Weight Barrels

Gentlemen,
I am looking into getting a light weight barrel for a 10/22,,It will be used for hunting and carried in the truck most of the time. Which type of barrel
would you recommend an aluminum or a carbon barrel with liner?

Also I have settled on a Houge Overmould stock,,,,,unless someone can steer me to a light-weight standard style stock with a monte-carlo cheek piece.

My squirrel rifle has a Tactical Solutions PacLite barrel and a Hogue OM stock on it. I can hold it up and shoot it one handed. It easily shoots under an inch at 50 yards with CCI Stingers, and MiniMag HP's, as well as with Federal Champions and American eagle HP's. The Stingers and MiniMags will do 1/2 to 5/8 for 5 shots. I really like how the Hogue stock feels for off hand shooting.
The only carbon barrel I have had was on a Volquartsen 17HMR. Very accurate but a lot more money.

Don't care for them at all. Too light and whippy. I've also never been impressed with the accuracy of them, at least in the reports I've seen. Steel heavy barrels are also too heavy. I much prefer a factory contour or light varmint contour like those offered by Clark, Shilen or Green Mountain. Not too light, not too heavy, just right.

I use Whistle Pig and have a Kidd. There's certainly others for less $ and a few for more. All depends on what you want as far as performance goes. You could certainly don't need the Kidd level of performance for a truck/hunting gun so I'd simply suggest sending off a factory ball for some work. It'll get re-worked and shoot far better than it did originally.
