Just wanted to let people know who are looking for an inexpensive holster for their adj. sighted Bearcat that the Uncle Mike's Sidekick holster size #7 fits it perfectly.

You will have to cut down the retaining strap some and resew it back but it's simple to do.

C'mon Gene !! Anyone with enough class to own that BEEyoutiful Bearcat has enough class to Never EVER put it in some of that classless POS nylon abortion ....YEE GADS !!!!!!!!
YOU go order a TOM 3P FULL-FLOWER-CARVED REAL-HONEST-TO-GOD LEATHER shuck from Doc Barranti and you do it now; that is a clear order, DISMISSED !!
And so it goes...

Hey thanks but to each their own. I said, INEXPENSIVE holster. I happen to like the S.K.'s just for knocking around.

Do whatever you want with your money.

You're welcome Ron. I was looking for something just to use as an inexpensive, knock around holster that would fit the adj. sighted Bearcat and that fit the bill perfectly.

I agree for a good utility holster uncle Mikes are the ticket !

You know, I can appreciate guys wanting decorative, expensive holsters for their guns like the guy above, (and wow, what a weird post that was!), but I really feel that if you actually USE your gun and just want a holster to protect it, the Uncle Mike's Sidekicks are the ticket and can't be beat especially for the price.

To add an expensive floral carved holster, (and nothing wrong with that if you like it!), maybe adds to the fact that you're not really using the gun but now you have a holster that you're worried about using because you don't want to get any scratches or mars on it if you use it. It's more like a BBQ gun in a BBQ holster you don't actually use. Again, nothing wrong with that and if you shoot your gun and actually use your expensive holster, more power to you!

I shoot my guns but I take fastidious care of them and the occasional scratch or dent really bums me out but I still want to shoot them. If I bought expensive holsters for them I would feel the same way.

Sorry for the rant but whatever you like or dislike, we're all in the brotherhood of our love of firearms and WHATEVER any of us like, is fine!

Personally, I don't know why someone would pay for a floral carved holster and NOT use it. But then I don't subscribe to the idea that anything is "too nice" to use. Spent all season banging around the woods with a $2600 custom flintlock. Yep, it got some scratches and dings but 'we' earned them together. No qualms about using my fancy leather, whether I make it or buy it from another.

Don't mean to drag this thread on but boy Craig, I can tell those holsters are users! :) Just kidding! If you made those or not, they are beautiful! Kudos to you if you made them. Do you ever really use them?

Everytime someone says we should buy expensive holsters for our guns and that they use them, they show pictures of pristine holsters with pristine guns in them! Are they really USING the holsters?

Anyway, I still love the Uncle Mike's Sidekicks because, I really use them. No offense to anyone who REALLY uses their fancy holsters! More power to you and I salute you!

I made the first and the second is El Paso Saddlery. Of course I use them. To me they're a waste of money if I don't use them. I just take pictures when the stuff is new and never again.

Uncle Mike's might work fine for sporadic use but I have one I got from a friend that tore the belt loop and allowed an expensive custom sixgun to hit the dirt. Good leather lasts a lifetime, plus.

Henry Cassady of Alabama makes an extremely nice lined Tom Threepersons holster out of excellent leather. He's on ebay as h.c.leather. His holsters are very affordable. Usually $49. If he doesn't have one listed for a Bearcat currently it won't be long before he will have one. They are not carved, stamped or woven from catfish whiskers just good traditional, simple holster you'd be proud to own. There are several forum members who make amazing holsters. You'll never regret having a good holster, and you won't have to worry about when (when not if) that plastic belt loop on your Vietnam manufactured Uncle Mike's will break.

Best Regards,

Craig, I totally agree with you that good leather WILL last a lifetime. Well made leather holsters have lasted the test of time and some are even in museums. I'm just saying WHY NOT post pictures of your expensive holsters that you and everyone say they "use".

I've used the U.M.'s holsters for decades and NEVER had one fail but maybe because I luckily never had one made where the employee wasn't doing his or her job and was watching the clock to go to lunch or end their shift! Just saying. :)

Anyway, thank you for you're interesting posts and your beautiful pictures!

Thanks much for that ADP3! I'll check it out. I didn't know that U.M.'s holsters were now made in Viet Nam but I now realize that a lot of stuff is.

I'm a Marine Corps Viet Nam vet that served PROUDLY from 1968-1970. I never condoned the fact that we were in a war that wasn't offically declared a war and I proudly stated that to my superiors. I was always against that "war" but I served and all these years later, I'm proud that I did, especially since so many of my brothers died in that war.

Anyway, sorry for going off tract, and this has turned into a very interesting thread! Thanks to all that have contributed!

PM reply sent and my original post edited to correct spelling (Cassady not Cassidy) and spacing (h.c.leather not h.c. leather) mistakes.

You know, I'm glad you brought these holsters up because at $49.00 they are a decent deal, IF he will makes one for an adj. sighted Bearcat! But on further research, Uncle Mike's holsters ARE NOT made in Viet Nam! You sucked me in bro but why would you make a statement like that? All my UM holsters as made in the U.S. Why all the vermin against them?

This is MY thread and again and again, entitled "INEXPENSIVE Holster For Adjustable Sighted Bearcat". Maybe I should have titled it, "Really, Really, Really, INEXPENSIVE Holster For Adjustable Sighted Bearcat"!

Good on you for directing folks to to his holsters but I came aboard to tell folks where one could ACTUALLY GET a inexpensive holster for their adj. sighted Bearcats!

If you're so adamant against UM holsters and know where to get a guaranteed to fit, INEXPENSIVE holster for a adj. sighted Bearcat, why didn't you start your own thread because people have been asking for one that's not too expensive?

P.S. By the way, I served in Viet Nam in the Marine Corps from '68 to '70 and would never buy anything made in Viet Nam! Did you serve?

You were not sucked in, and I'm not against Uncle Mike's holsters. I have several Uncle Mike's holsters, but they are for outdoor range use and not rough country carry. I re-checked my holster collection just to be certain. Four Uncle Mike's holsters ( a #4 Pocket, a #2 Sidekick, a #7 Sidekick and a #15 Sidekick) say "MADE IN VIETNAM" on the reverse side of the tag on the back of the holster. Two Uncle Mike's (a #O Sidekick and a #5 Sidekick) say "MADE IN U.S.A." Two older ones (another #2 Sidekick and #5 Sidekick) have the old webbed belt loop and do not identify where they were made, but I'm pretty sure it was in the US. If yours is labelled "MADE IN U.S.A." it's older production like two of mine. My newer Uncle Mike's were all made in Vietnam, and I suspect most of what you find in shops will be from Vietnam too. I've got nothing against Vietnam. The more they move towards a free market economy the better off we both are.

Good luck on your quest. Inexpensive is a really general term. Inexpensive compared to what? Ebay often has what I consider inexpensive holsters, $25 to $50 range. Be sure the one you order will fit your barrel length. Newer Bearcats have 4.2" barrels (except for the Shopkeeper Models). The older Bearcats had 4" barrels.

Okay and thanks for that ADP3. I have several UM's holsters and they ALL say "Made In USA" and I guess they are all older UM's unlike most of yours that are not which to me, is a shame.

As for what's inexpensive and even though I live very rural, I admit I won't use them for "rough country" use and I'll bet most folks that buy floral carved or otherwise leather holsters don't either! If they ride horseback or transverse great distances walking in brush or whatever, then that's the reason they should spend the extra money for leather. Again, if you just prefer leather and display your guns in them, THAT'S FINE!

Because I live very rural and can shoot in my own backyard, I will use my UM's to protect my guns from dents or scratches and for MILD use.

Enough said and to start this thread all over again and again and again, if you're looking for a inexpensive, REALLY INEXPENSIVE holster for your NM, (note "New Model"!), and again, ADJUSTABLE SIGHTED Bearcat, just to protect it from minor bumps and grinds, get a #7 UM holster! It fits the adustable sighted Bearcat perfeclty! Didn't this thread begin by this?

Whew! I'm out of here!
