indecision...and questions

Was pretty sure I was going to order a new blackhawk, in .44special, either from ruger or lipsey's, 4 5/8's barrel. Already reload for .44 magnum.

Then I started looking around Lipsey's site and saw the stainless .45colt/acp with ivory grips. As it was only announced in Nov. how long before they actually have them?
Does the .44spc have an edge in accuracy? Which is more flexible with reloading? (target,plinking, possible hunting)

IMHO, since the Blackhawks in .44 Special use the "mid sized" receivers and cylinders it seems that calibre would offer more "reloading room" than would the .45 Colt in the same "package". That's what Elmer chose...... :D

See you two are at it again...instigating! :) Now as much as I admire the classic 45LC, the mid-sized BH in .44 special is an attractive little package. The chambering is certainly a capable one. Those TALO ones are a nice grab too. Wish they went with a longer barrel, but that's just me.

I just got my Lipsey's 45 Convertible Friday so I'm not experienced with it yet. I do have other 45 Colt Rugers and one 45ACP (The new Talo birdshead).

If you already reload 44Mag, the 44SPL is a no-brainer. You might need a few upgrades to your die set (depends on the brand, Lee 44 Mag dies will not do all the loading steps for 44SPL but 44Spl Lees will do both).

I do admit that the convertible part of the 45 makes it attractive as well. Both 45's are easy to load for.

If you haven't loaded target or plinking loads for any of these, look at Clays powder for lead bullet loading. Low charge weights and clean burning.

Contender is correct... Buy both - I did! :D
