Imgur & avatars,

As some may have noticed,, my avatar picture has disappeared. I tried all kinds of things. Nada. Finally I contacted Imgur,, and have had a few emails back & forth with them.
Despite me finding a place on their site a few days ago saying they allowed the use of Imgur to post avatars,,, apparently they are telling me they do not allow their site to be used to post avatars. I sent a couple of emails back & forth with them,, and asked them to put it in plain language,,, and posted below was the response I got.
So,, while you may be using them currently,, they will eventually find out & remove the ability for your picture to be used.

I'll be looking for a new photo hosting site now.

Yes, as per our Terms of Service, we do not permit using imgur hosted images to host avatars.

Hmmm? I wonder why? Especially because avatars are pretty small images. Maybe they just don’t want the extra traffic back and forth on their server. If you had an avatar, it would have to load from their server every time someone reads one of your posts. That’s my only guess, probably not a very good one either.

Let us know if you find another picture hosting site. Imgur was easy to use, it I didn’t care for all the disrespectful images on their home page. Some, of most I should say, is pure trash.

I wonder where I went wrong. hmmm....

I'll have to poke around. I am using imgur now and like Ty said, it will probably disappear sooner or later

EDITED TO ADD: I got it to work. The first image was a .png file. I changed it to .gif and it came out correct

I loaded my avatar as soon as I went with Imgur and had no problem at all.

I am glad Picture Trail worked well for you. I started using it when PB changed and I have been very happy with it. Very nice Super Blackhawk!

I have been using Imgur for about 2 years now. They hosted my avatar all this time. And according to my email exchange with them,,, avatars are not allowed. BUT,,,, they know folks are using them for that,, and they said they will be removing them as they find them. No,,, I didn't tell them which Forums I visit,,, (3) and my avatar is gone from 2 of those already.
I'm sure as they delve into it,, more of us will suffer the same fate.

I'll be looking at another hosting site when I get the time to play here.
