Every so often when I'm on this forum I get this message popping up on my screen and wants you to click it. Is this legitimate? I'm hesitant to click on things anymore.

Thank you. So, when you do get it, do you click on the square that they ask you to? So far I have just backed out and it goes away.
If it's a site like Gunbroker (GB) I write them and say I don't like being hounded with popups but at GB I found a way to get by it without answering it.

On other sites I use the Vivaldi browser extension to disable java which keeps annoying popups from popping up. Most often the site is still usable but some sites get completely disabled without Java so I go elsewhere.

What's more irritating is folks who post links and the site won't load unless you turn off your ad blocker. Yea, like that is ever going to happen.
But sites that play games I usually just pass them by. I have a feeling someone has figured out a way to make money on these pop ups.

All I have to say is "Domo arrigato".
Ah, I see you are a wise man who speaks different languages. Ich spricht Deutsche (NO, it is NOT Dutch!). All the German I know, I learned by watching reruns of Hogans Heroes! Parlez vous? No?
Capiche Italiano? No? Repita... P-I-Z-Z-A! :ROFLMAO:

Mama Cat was walking her kittens acrossthe park when all of a sudden a BIG DOG jumped out from behind a tree, bared his teeth and went, "Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"
The kittens were scared and their bodies trembled, too scared and unknowing what to do, but Mama Cat stood her ground, looked at the BIG DOG straight in the eye and from deep in her throat came, "GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" The dog ran away.
Mama Cat then turned to her kittens and waving a claw up and down at them said, "NOW do you see the advantage of a second language?"

I often turn off the ad blocker so as to open the page that I am interested in. I have never had any problem with doing this. Putting up with some unwanted advertisements is not a big deal and is certainly not risky like clicking on unknown links in an email or text.
