At least according to USDA :x Coulda fooled me.

Got a letter from them today, expressing condolences to "The Estate of (my full name)", and if my wife, etc. wants to renew the CRP contract, etc., etc.

Guess I'll have to resurrect myself and drive up to the local office and raise hell.

Yeah. I hope this is just a local screwup by the USDA office, and not the result of somebody hacking my SSN in one of the many Federal databases I'm in. That could present a lot of problems.

Conservation Reserve Program. USDA pays you a few $$ to grow trees ( or other stuff). Many farmers plant fast growing trees on otherwise useless land - usually pine or similar that they can harvest in 20 or 30 years and sell for pulp. In the meantime it makes for some nice private hunting land for deer, turkey, etc.

Btw, here's my last request  :

I hate to be a downer, but I do believe where USDA gets that info is the Social Security death registry. May be wrong...

Maybe gunny just has forgotten to lie down. Based on my two kids, Marines are darned hard to kill. They're also really hard headed so they might technically be dead but refuse to quit.

I would write to them and say:
HEY! . . . GREAT!! . . . SEND MY REFUND, IN CASH!!
I EXPECT IT BY NEXT WEDNESDAY!

:D

1) You would have their attention
2) They would trip over their own feet trying to prove they didn't owe you anything 8)

Trust me, I will find out how this happened, who's responsible, and if any of this info was transmitted electronically or otherwise to anyone, or any entity, outside of the local office, and how they plan to correct it. Water boarding or other "enhanced interrogation" is not out of the question.

For some reason I really like the way Marines think.

I've had some practice at extracting information from unwilling individuals. Interesting what you can learn during a 21 year career. :)

I've heard of The Walking Dead and The Voting Dead. First I've seen of The Blogposting Dead.

Is this the part where you ask Chloe for the schematics? :P

I didn't know that program was still going. My parents had their property planted back in the 1960s... You go back there now and you'd never know there were fields where we hunted, skated, sledded, etc etc. It's a forest!

Yep. Don't pay much, about $30/acre/year, and pulpwood doesn't pay very well either, so you won't get rich from it.

Pretty fiesty for a dead guy.... maybe you should just let events take their course...let your wife file for life insurance......notify the IRS, etc..

let her sell your guns for cash to some strange guy named GeneyGunn...

there could be a bright side to that ghost thing.... :P

Oh goody! Can I watch! I need some ideas for future use!

How can we be sure these posts are from you? After all if you've gone to the great beyond someone else might be forging your avatar.

There may be a bright side to this. When you are "resurrected" you can reset your birthday count, Now I haven't seen your picture and you may or may not be aged beyond your years and afterword seem to have had a rough time for a short time but you'll save money on birthday candles. Your wife ( you're married right?) will have a much younger husband to hang out with/show off, maybe make her friends jealous.............

fwiw

Gunny, I would contact my local Social Security Adminstration office first thing tomarrow (Monday) morning. If they have you listed as dead, it can cause BIG problems.

Is it against the law to be alive when the government has decided you're dead? Better keep a lookout for G men coming to correct the error.

I know. Monday is a Federal Holiday, so it'll have to wait till Tuesday.

I've been Resurrected!! :D The report of my demise resulted from a error in data entry in the local USDA office. They had my SSN wrong by one digit. The guy with that SSN died in 1975. No issues with the problem appearing in the SSA database. Whew! :)

That said, I did have to walk on water to get this taken care of (it was raining this morning).
