I have the subcompact, and it is my bedside buddy...Beretta PX4 compact.
My Gen 2 G17. It's not the 'nicest' handgun I own, not the 'coolest' and definitely not the prettiest, but I've shot it more than any other and it's never failed me no matter what I feed it, or whether or not I've cleaned it. I think 19 rounds of 9mm on the gun with a +2 extension would put me in a position to handle the most likely scenarios where a handgun would be appropriate. I've got a bunch of mags and spare parts. I know some here would say I would not be equipped to handle a charging grizzly, But the OP didn't say I couldn't have a shotgun or a .44 mag carbine...Glock 17.....

I like it a lot and it covers a lot of bases but only one would make it a little boring. No telling how good we would get if we only had one...
