...sick and tired of the constant media obsession with the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping?

Seriously. One old lady with health issues goes missing, and there seems to be foul play involved. Millions in resources are being expended to find her.

To put things into perspective, hundreds of thousands of illegal alien children went missing during the Biden administration. The Biden administration released them into the custody of strangers, and didn't keep track of them at all. It's highly likely most have been forced into slavery or prostitution. Ice has been doing a good job recovering many, but the media ignores that.

Nancy Guthrie would not even warrant more than a brief local news blurb if her daughter were not famous. There are other matters far more important that should be the top news stories. Sucks for her family. But hearing about it multiple times a day makes me feel like we are all being held hostage.

Haven't watched news in years so the only things I hear about it are on a couple gun forums

They still lookin for her?

How do we know she didnt wander out into the desert?

No Watchman, you ain't alone.
Our modern-day news outlets have become little more than renditions of the old 'National Inquirer'....maybe with a sports section thrown in, and even that aspect is being presented more like a soap opera than a report.

Sorry for the Guthrie's and their troubles, but the Country has bigger (and more important) fish to fry.

I would NOT call her daughter famous she is just well known !!

Actual stranger kidnappings are very rare in the US. Kidnapping statistics are skewed all over the place, intermingled with missing persons, and parental abduction. Border states, like Arizona, have suffered from Cartel kidnappings for years, and I suspect that this is the case here. The "news" media are apoplectic about this because it affects them. Like most things today, much of what they are reporting is just made up.

"I have thought the same thing. If it was me or anyone in my family, it would barely make the local news."

We too have felt the exact same way here.

Just last night,, (and this is an example of our local Trasheville News 13 broadcasting,) they talked about the Trasheville Marti-Gras parade, as a headline story. Another story about a musician (unknown to us, and not being played on the radio etc,) ) who performed over the weekend, and how good it was for the local economy. These two stories were the TOP stories. They took a commercial break, and came back trashing the government partial shut down, and of course mentioning ICE & the shootings, bashing the Republicans. Then they spent a lot of air time talking about the kidnapping,, including having the media woman who's mother has been abducted talking.
Yet,, while this was being broadcast,, they had a line ticker-tape scrolling at the bottom. In that,, they gave little one line blurbs about one man being charges with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one about another man who was charged with looting during Helene who was also arrested on having sex with a minor, and one about a guy who was arrested on impersonating a police officer.
These 3 stories SHOULD have been bigger headlines than the crap they put up.
And this is just an example of how this local station puts out the "news."

Now,, we watch it for the weather mostly, and to see what they MIGHT show us,, as it's the closest station to our home & what we MIGHT get to hear. But it's an extremely poor representation of what a news broadcast SHOULD be.
And the kidnapping?
As noted,, a LOT more man-power, resources, and air time for this ONE case is DIRECTLY because of the media person related to her. Oh,,, and last night,, she expressed her disappointment in how slowly the investigation was going. A gentle way of saying she didn't like the way the cops were doing their jobs.
I guess her privileged attitude feels that she should get instant results because that's what SHE wants.

Yes,, it's horrible that her mother was abducted. Yes,, there does appear to be foul play. Yes,, she hasn't been found yet. But a crime scene,, that could lead to finding the woman, AND getting prosecution requires a lot of work. If they had bull-dozed ahead,, and found her,, but the criminal got off scot-free,, the media would sue the police, complain loudly, & everything else,, blaming all of them.

Too much coverage, too much hype etc,,, because of who her daughter is. A media personality.

She was right about the investigation, our sheriff is an idiot...

The longest "Breaking News" story in history, without any actual breaking news.
Agreed. TV, radio, papers, internet, whatever, I complain daily about the clickbait artists who write inane headlines.

Just once (if indeed this is the case) I'd like to see "Absolutely nothing new to report." <--- period

Contender, you sound like you have the same news as I do. They lead with some homeless issue or something about the next event at the fairgrounds, weather, weather , more weather- every 7-10 minutes. Lots about high school sports and school issues. About 20 minutes in they get to national topics with a definite liberal slant, and at 30 minutes the whole dog and pony show starts over.

Not to change the subject, but I’m sure I can’t be the only one who is pi$$ed that they refer to Rene Good as “the mother of 3 shot by ICE, and Predator as “the off duty nurse shot by ICE”. I believe it should be “the lady who tried to hit an ICE agent with her car” and “the instigator who disregarded law enforcement orders and resisted arrest”. But hey, what do I know.
