So I made my own "snap caps" for 45 colt. I had 10 pieces of brass that had loose primer pockets so I mixed up some soft casting resin with red dye and filled the pockets after cleaning them. It did a really good job. They work great...so far. I do not know how long it will last but so far so good

Great idea. Did you put in any projectiles? You would not need them in a revolver but would be good to cycle in a lever gun.

I have bought and tried to use snap caps to help with feeding issues and have found they usually do not work well.

My .38special snap caps do not even allow some of my revolvers to close or turn.

16 gage ones won’t cycle through an old bolt gun I was trying to fix.

My 12 gauge ones cracked after a few uses.

Making my own is probably the only way to get good ones.

Next time you are bored try making wax bullets. Empty primed shell (no gunpowder), push open end down on about 1/2" thick beeswax. Surprisingly accurate out to about 15 feet.
A hanging towel is enough of a backstop.
The primers give it just enough pop to make it fun.

I have made decent snap caps by sizing and de-
capping cases,and then seating a bullet.
Then fill the pocket with glue from a " hot glue gun" . when the glue cools,shave it smooth,and VIOLA! They last well and provide a good firing pin cushion.

I used some cheap 230 grain xtreme fmjs as the "bullet". So they will feed correctly.
