I plan on trying Bull Riding next week.

A good example would be basketball players. These guys can barely walk when they're in their 60'and 70's.
The joints are worn out and many get knee replacements.
The body does not repair cartilage. What you have is supposed to last a lifetime.

Speaking of a "bill" coming due...

I got a metal roof put on my garage and the guys just marked the stack of metal where they wanted it drilled. Hell even an old gimp can surely drill a few holes, they are stacked up and clamped so its drilling 8 sheets at a time.

Good Lord my knees hurt today AND last night and I drilled one stack just bending over but the other half kneeled in the drive way.

Feels like an instant replay of every cave I ever crawled through. That was a lot of crawling I never even gave it a thought until I got about 50. Been paying for that ever since.

I'm waiting for baseball batters to start wearing full head & face covering helmets.
I’ve been expecting some head / face protection for pitchers.

Bull riding? I’m not sure if I respect them or feel sorry for them. They earn those buckles thats for sure

Or maybe not.
Watching the last contest of the regular season of bull riding.
Brave, tough, crazy riders.
I could imagine myself creating a bunch of sports to try out.
Bull Riding would have never entered my mind. Climb on top of a bull in a cage then say let er rip. Nope.
(And that is with me admitting I am not the sharpest tack sometimes)
God bless them (y)
Its a lot of fun but incredibly abusive on your body

As a teenager in the late '70's I was involved with the Little Britches rodeo in a small farm town in southwest Oklahoma. Mostly rode saddle bronc, but tried a bull once. It only took about 5 seconds for me to realize that I was NOT going to be a bull rider. It is amazing how much you can learn in 5 seconds.

I tried steer wrestling once off the back of a motorcycle, but that didn't work out very well either. There must be some technique to steer wrestling that completely evaded me. I ended up being drug for around 50 yards before wising up and letting go.

I don't think I could survive either one of these activities today, but at 15 you are about as indestructible as you are ever likely to get.

Absolutely true. When I was young I used to jump fences. Now I look for the gate.

There was an Hereford bull on the farm I worked on as a kid. We'd take a running leap onto his back and see how long we could hang on. He never bucked, just ran around in crazy circles. I don't think any of us ever stayed on for 8 seconds. Of course, we had no cinch or rigging of any kind, just try to hang on.
When you think about it, bull riding is a made-up sport - not to say it isn't difficult and dangerous, but it would have never served any purpose on a working cow ranch except to get someone hurt. For that reason, my favorite rodeo event has always been saddle bronc. That was something real cowboys actually needed to do.

I'd rather watch cricket than football. American football: fifteen minutes of action packed into four hours.
I 100% agree. I ask my wife the same thing the rare times we watch. Why does it take an hour to finish the last five minutes?

In my youth I felt like I needed to ride a Bull and I did. I rode him about 20 feet and he rode me what felt like half a mile. I have not felt the need since !

my Son was a Bull Rider in High School rodeo for 2 years , never was very good at it but sure in the world gave it His all , I have a lot of respect for those kids that do high school rodeo or little bitches

I worked with a fella that rode bulls for sport on weekends. I could always tell when bull riding season started.. Nixx was a little slower and a little more banged up every Monday.

I got on a half dozen or so when I was young. I kept landing on my head, and it finally smartened me up. So, I decided I was going to jump off a running horse onto a steer. That can hurt too.😖

In lieu of bull riding I took up skydiving in my 50’s. I did 270 then kissed the ground on #270 snd thanked God for every one. Bull riding… to dangerous for this boy.

I've had way to much to drink many many times in my 80 years of life, but I have never entertained trying bull riding once. You can either call that being chicken or being really smart, whichever, but I can still walk, crawl, or whatever.
