I wouldn't say I like "odd" guns, but I do like things few have. Somehow it turns out that the rest of the World catches up to me some 20+ years later and the time that passed makes them valuable.

I bought one of those, a J.C. HIggins model 36 at a gun shop for $10, it needs refinishing and a proper take down screw (which I already bought). It is on the list to be refinished when I get my shop finished.

Whitney Wolverine is a gun that jumps to mind about odd appearances. Seemed to be reasonably successful though, not as rare as I imagined.
I have one, too, but mine is the Model 31 with the oddball pull-out sling in the stock. Bought it at a "yard sale" at my gun club about 20 years ago and didn't pay all that much for it, I'm thinking maybe $55 or something like that. I thought it looked like it might make a good "subcaliber trainer" for my Mossberg 500 and Rem 870 shotguns. Turns out it's quite a bit lighter but it's stocked VERY similarly and handles similarly, too. I haven't shot it in years but just happened to dig it out a couple weeks ago and cleaned it up and it seems to be good to go--I'm looking forward to shooting it again very soon.
When I read the subject "Odd Duck Guns" this came to mind. A punt gun used by market hunters for waterfowl.

How does the gun decern between "odd" ducks and regular one?
I think it kills them all and the hunter sorts them into odd and even piles.

Just when I thought my desire for the unusual had abated, I came across this. It is a Dreyse light Carbine chambered in .32 ACP. To me pretty cool, also $3,000. So it will live in my dreams not my safe. How did I come to this? Well, I bought some Hornady Critical Defense for my Max 9. I either clicked wrong or they shipped wrong. Funny though, caliber is not on the box. Anyway got 2 boxes of the .32 ACP. Started looking at guns for it and there it was!.

a few years back, a gun shop was clearing out old inventory of guns that didn't sell. They buy a lot of estates and these were in one of those estates.
Here is a list of what we got
J.C. Higgins model 36 - $10
Marlin model 25M (22 Mag) - $10
Savage/Stevens 325A (30-30) - $10
Marlin model 60 - $50
Ruger Mark II - $125
1954 vintage Remington 870 Wingmaster $150 (needed nothing, in good original condition)
All of the above have been refinished except for the Wingmaster and the JC Higgins.
My Daughter's boyfriend bought the following:
Sporterized Arisaka - $10
Hungarian FEG Hi-Power - $50
They also had two Remington 597 rifles for $10 that we passed on as well as a couple of single shot shotguns, there was a Mossberg 500 that someone else bought, I didn't see the price though.
Keep in mind, all of these guns needed refinishing, work or parts.
