About a month back, i bought a replacement 10-22 barrel on ebay. Seller stated he is a machinist, class 3 dealer, and SOT builder. I finally got the barrel installed yesterday. I would have liked to see a tighter fit into receiver but it is what it is. Went to the shooting bench with HV and subsonic ammo and the muffler.
While the groups weren't quite as great as I hoped, the barrel is a total winner. Unbelievably, POI for Federal HVHP and Aguila subsonic round nose were within 1" @ 25 yards AND POI with the can was close enough for most purposes. All hits from both types of ammo with and w/o muffler were within a 1.5" aiming sticker.
Needless to say, I'm ecstatic.

I don't know what other work you've done, I recently had Brimstone do a level three "sweet spot" trigger job. The cheapest level of work on the original trigger group. I can't believe the difference from the original trigger. It cost about $50 and about a week turnaround. If you haven't done trigger work yet, this would tighten up those groups a bit.

No "other work done". This is my old beater 10-22 that spends it's life in the pickup or UTV. My other (newer) 10-22 shows a distinct POI change when using the can or changing from HV to subsonic ammo so I was desperately hoping this one would be better. Got lucky, I guess.
As for tightening the groups, maybe I was being a wee bit pessimistic. Twenty five yard groups were nickel sized and overlapping with the different ammo and muzzle devices. That's actually pretty good for a 2.5x scope with fairly thick crosshairs.
