I found a couple of MkI's. On the left is a heavy barrel target MkI with the factory compensator/brake made 1961.
On the right is an early bull-barrel MkI with factory thumb rest target grips made 1965.
Both are in excellent condition.

they are out there, I just sent some, a few weeks ago out to N Dakota, last ones we had here.......cleaning out, never know what we may come across......:cool::rolleyes:

appears your T-678 someone "ramped" the front blade, removed the "can opener" back cut ( reversed notch?)..if they did it ;right" they should have recut serrations up th e ramp....the blades are standard, and are out there ( here tucked away in drawers someplace in the basement)

I bought my first Ruger standard model back around 1966 or so, it had the shorter barrel, fixed sights. I instantly wished I had bought the Target model, and really preferred the 5.5 inch heavy bbl but the shop I bought from only had the longer tapered barrel Target model so being the impatient type I bought it. By the time I bought my preferred barrel length and profile it was a MKII. I always thought the MKI series had a better trigger pull than the MKII but that may have been in my head.
