You hate numbers, ya right. You are obsessed with numbers. I wonder how may guns you would even own if they didn't have serial numbers? Ed

Well I was just making up those numbers

I have never counted them

I am sure it is almost enough :!: :!: :!: RR

I am not a numbers person per se like The Radical one is but I did stumble into a neat numbers situation a few weeks ago. I swapped a Colt SAA to a buddy for a Type 1 357 flat top plus some other items and once the Ruger arrived I looked at the serial number and thought to myself, " Cool! 2468 for a serial number". The more I thought about that number the more something kept nagging at me until it finally popped into focus. You see when my dad was alive he ordered one of the first Remington Model 700s in 7 MM magnum to come into western Oregon. That was in 1962, the first year of that combination. Both my dad and I hunted with that 7 mag and we both killed more than a few elk and deer with the gun over the years. After my father died and my wife and I had our kids, I started giving different guns I inherited from my father to my kids. A few years ago I let my oldest son, ironically his name is Remington, have the 1962 7 mag. When I picked up the flat top and suddenly realized where I had seen that serial number before I had to call my son and have him check the Model 700. Sure enough, it too is serial number 2468, the same as the first year flat top. I guess that settle which child gets the flat top some day, doesn't it? I thought it was a very cool cowinkydink! :)

Robb, that is how the number thing starts    all innocent like that...then it becomes an obsession    RR.

Gosh Dan, how do you know my DAD doesn't have the same serial numbers in all his old guns....

Maybe I just never told you that part :!: :!: :!:

Sometime just accept the fact that you "DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING"   RR.

I was at the Harrisburg Ruger show 2 or 3 years ago and RR had 2 tables full of consecutive serial number pairs of Rugers. Now that was not only a neat display but it was an AWESOME display. Most people have 1 to 2 tables of Ruger when they display their collection. But stop and think how hard it is to acquire two tables of Rugers that is comprised of "CONSECUTIVE PAIRS". Most of the guns were low 3 digits serial numbered guns. Now it is hard enough to get a person to sell you a 3 digit gun and then there are only 2 other guns that you can get to pair them up. You have to be lucky enought to find them and then find one of the two people that will sell it to you. RR HAD TWO TABLES FULL OF THESE GUNS.

Now you might not be a collector, or if you are consecutive pairs might not be your thing. But let give the "devil his due". RR needs to be given a lot of credit for putting these gun together. It is no easy task. As a matter of fact it is the hardest collection to put together of any phase of Ruger Collecting. Good job RR. Glad I could help in some small way.

STREET, I thank you for your kind words BUT as I have always said I do it because I want to....not to impress or try to be important.....I have FUN doing it...when it isn't fun anymore I will QUIT and do something else....I still LOVE THE THRILL OF THE HUNT.....when that "TINGLY" feel stops I must be DEAD.....RR.
