I found this old button

And I’m really curious to know if anybody recognizes what it might come from.
It looks like an eagle over an anchor with a crown on his head. Don’t know if the picture shows it well I couldn’t get a good angle or lighting.

It has a crown so it's attached to royalty or a kingdom. Does the eagle have one head or two?

Ok so that rules out Russia and the Balken states.
It could be from a military uniform of several European monarchies.
It could also be from one of the British Commomwealths.

Ok found it. You can pirchase these buttons on Etsy. Apparently made in China.

But the question is if the found button is old or just a deteriorated new Chinese knock-off? I don't think they are exactly the same... I have to do things like this:

What does the back look like? Any stamps, logo, lettering?

Old buttons like that can be very valuable. As a metal detectorist,, many of my friends love finding old buttons. I've never actively searched for any,, nor found some,, but I have seen several.

Look on the back. Sometimes there is stuff there too.

And buttons can look very similar to others,, but be different enough to make a big difference in values.

Yes,, some types are much more common,, but before discarding it or thinking it's "nothing" do some serious research,, and get better pics of it.
Plus,, there are books & lots of online info about them.

We had a guy in our club find a larger odd button long ago. He didn't think much of it,, and it was in his "junk finds" box for 12 years. Then he discovered a reference to something else,, that made him look at it again. Turns out it was quite valuable,, & he sold it for $3000.00. And that was about 20 years ago.

Which brought back a memory of an incident years ago, when my family and I were living in Naples, Italy. We were at a Saturday street flea market. Spouse was looking at an old looking item. Asked the vendor "How old is it?"
Vendor's reply "How old would you like it to be?"

From what little I know about them,, a lot can be determined by what's on the back of the button,, as well as how it's attached to something.
