I finally got it back together

I have 4 Old Models and I've taken them apart and that's not too complicated. But since I don't have any New Models, I've never taken one apart but I've studied a book I have on how to do it. So, I jumped in to dis-assemblying my BFR .45-70. It's uncanny how much it is like the NM depicted in the book. Since the cylinder frame and grip frame are made by Ruger in their Pine Tree casting plant, I was hoping this would be the case, and it was.

I thought I needed to dis-assemble for a thorough cleaning. I've shot probably 1000 rounds through it and was beginning to get light primer strikes. After climbing a bit of a learning curve on New Model construction, it all went back together and IT WORKS. I haven't had it to the range yet to determine if I've cured the light primer strikes - maybe tomorrow.

Dis and reassemble,so if you get hung up a Bit with the book hit the Net

...and a year from now you can be sure, if you are like me, that you will have forgotten how to do it. ...but the second time it will be easier and quicker to do the work of dis-assembly and re-assembly. :D :D
