I felt nekked

I can manage as long as I at least have my Pentagon Elite. Once I'm in a place where even a knife isn't allowed I understand what you feel when you say nak-ked. 🤧

Some years back I attended the funeral of a good friend, pancreatic cancer takes no prisoners. Attendee males were asked to wear plaid shirts, jeans, "Stetsons" and if you so desired western gun belts. Mind you this was before California banned open carry of unloaded handguns. I wish I had photos, but the family asked no photos taken, for obvious reasons.

It was offered to the riflemen the use of lever guns for the salute. They politely refused, explaining it would be against regs. Though to a man they thought it would have been appropriate.

Tuesday morning when I went to the emergency room for my ankle it was right at shift change. There was a huge security guard lounging on a sofa.
He yelled to me... "Yo, my man.. you gots any knives or pepper spray on you"?
I didn't say anything because I was in severe pain but I thought it was very unprofessional.
I knew that they had a ban on things like that and left my knife in my truck.

Why not carry at a funeral? Did they have a metal detector at the door or a security guard wanding everyone who entered? Its critical to be armed at a funeral just in case the person is not really dead, but is now a zombie who will jump up and try to eat the brains of the living. Being armed could make you the hero of the day when you make a head shot on the zombie.

There are probably a lot of non-law enforcement folks that disregard the criminal empowerment zone signs that forbid protecting yourself. But for those that did carry in those places and ended up having to use their gun, I wonder what legal ramifications would be brought upon those people. Hopefully just banned from the store.
Our church has a select few in the congregation that carry during services.

I literally knew everyone attending the actual services so very unlikely any problems there. Just the feeling of not having the normal 'load out' was disconcerting.

Did you circle to the side that you used to carry on? Or did you circle opposite to the side you carried on since that leg was so much stronger than the other? 😊

For anti-zombie ammo doesn't the bullets have to be lime green? Oddly, in my NC County, there have been two incidences of a shootout at a funeral since 1969. I can also recall in 1965, a friend of my father's passed, dad was a pall bearer, I went to the funeral armed and so did my father. This was in an area of Greenville County, SC known as the "dark corner", an area that was known for "moonshining". Seems my dad was a known individual in the area families in the 1930s.

I guess it all comes down to the person. Not too long ago I got myself to the ER with severe chest pains. As soon as the security guard saw me he kicked it in high gear and I had people all over me in seconds. I made darned sure his bosses knew just how well he had done his job, after I got home. I had left my pistol at home but was carrying a small fixed blade. They just put that in my belongings.

You are lucky that they put it with your belongings and you got it back. The paranoia over certain things is unreal. I always try to be aware of my surroundings and any bans on weapons.
I usually carry 2 knives, a Dozier Personal in a cross draw belt sheath and an Opinel Garden Knife. I wouldn't be happy if the Dozier was taken but if some overzealous security guard snagged the Opinel I have more to take the place of it.
I'm glad you had a good security guard help you out. I've seen both kinds and the range of effectiveness is vast.

Was at the beach a year or so back on vacation for 2 weeks and got a call from a cousin that my Uncle was not expected to live out the week.... had to go to the nearby Goodwill store and buy a coat to wear and was planning to do the 2 hour drive when the call came in but he lasted another month, old ornery coot.... good man for sure... owned his own rural phone company... finally sold out to Bell South and gave each of his four children a check for a million dollars and was still in good shape financially right up until his death.

Mobuck.... can't believe you don't at least have a sports jacket.... what size are you? I've got too many... found a nice black wool dress coat the other day in my closet and could not figure out where it came from.. wife said a customer gave it to me and was her husband's who had recently passed. I actually wore a nice coat and tie two weeks ago for church.... don't ask me why... today I'll probably have my dress shorts and Sunday go to meeting boots on with a loose fitting shirt....

Same situation last week. Went to the ER and approached the receptionist behind her "protective shield" along with the security guard. As I got signed in she asked if I had any weapons on me, so I held up the "Mini Buck" that is always in the "watch pocket" of my jeans and said "Do you consider this a weapon?" She looked up and grinned at the same moment my wife presented her similar knife on her key ring. I just said "Everybody oughta have a knife" and the guard just said something like "Hey, it's Kentucky!". I got signed in and admitted. 🤣

Only one doc's office where ia have to worry about my knife. The rest don't seem to have a problem. One of my cancer doc's gives me empty pure lead vials used for radioactive materials. Last batch was over 140 pounds of pure lead and they even loaded it in my truck for me. Told me to check with them if I needed more.

I've tried getting some of those vials from the cancer center that I go to with no luck. We don't use them for reloading but we make some of the finest headbusters you have ever seen. I have some other sources of lead but those vials are pure and melt perfectly.
