Hi all. I have been away from this fine forum for many years and wanted to share I am still a sick puppy.

I stumbled upon a set of 50th anniversary .44 gold stabilized spalted maple grips Cary made for me about 17 years ago. BEAUTIFUL grips. Sold the .44 years ago but kept the grips.

Now I find myself shopping for a New Vaquero to put the grips on. (Hence the sick puppy)

Cary also made for me two pairs of Super Blackhawk sq trigger guard grips out of Goncalo Alves Tigerwood that have seen A LOT of use over the years.

I just wanted to say howdy to all and let Cary know I have enjoyed MANY shooting hours using his fine grips.

And to say I really don't blame Cary for the money I am going to spend on that darn New Vaquero. (Or do I?) LOL.

Funny how that happens! Guess I'm even sicker, because more than once I've gone shopping for a new gun, just because I had mags that would fit!

Hey Steve, what better compliment can a grip maker get than someone that has a pair of his grips and needs to buy a gun to put them on? Good to hear from you again. If I'm not mistaken, this is a pic of those goncalo alve grips.

I am on the run right now but wanted to share the beauty. Was at the local gunshop looking at blue Vaquero. I have to decide blue or stainless. My favorite BBQ Ruger.
And the gold spalted maple.

Regular stabilizing compound is clear stuff. On my spalted maple such as those above I had all my spalted wood gold stabilized. It really made them look good.

I feel a little better about handgun shopping because my grips need a new home.
I have never handgun shopped to fit spare handgun mags.
But I have (once) purchased a handgun to fit into a Milt Sparks holster.

(That reminds me, I also bought a handgun once, because I already had a holster for it - plus 500 brand new primed Starline cases with nothing to use them in!)

Those are indeed beautiful grips! Definitely worth showing 'em off!

I’ve bought guns just because I had a couple boxes of ammo and nothing to shoot it through!

I did not have a SBH myself but I did have to purchase a SBH grip frame to fit my grips to. Since I sold my grips by the pictures of them, I just changed the grip frame on my Vaquero to take the pictures of the SBH grips. I got to where I could change that grip frame in about two minutes.

By the way, Goncalo Alve is also known as Tiger Wood. Below is the board I made those grips from.

I do believe it. You had me trace the grip outlines on the back to show how I would like them oriented to the grain pattern. Nature is awe inspiring in its beauty. Splendid job turning it into grips.

I also believe I completely forgot about the cigars. Fun hobby while it lasted. You are welcome.

Now my doctors favorite words are no no no. But that is a whole other rant.
