How to remove 10-22 bolt???

I have a stainless 10-22 that I can not get the bolt out. The bar under the ejector port on the receiver is about .001 to long as the bolt hits the back of the receiver before the front clears the rail. I have no problems removing the bolt in the other 10-22's that are blued.

Seems like I have encountered that situation before but I can't remember how I dealt with it. It seems logical that if Ruger was able to assemble the receiver, it should be possible to finagle it apart. Sorry I'm not more help. Are you disassembling it for cleaning, or to replace parts? If for cleaning, I'd soak it overnight in mineral spirits then use a can of "Gun Scrubber" to flush the loosened crud, instead of disassembling it.

Hold the receiver right side up, then support the bolt with fingers of the other hand and keep both receiver and bolt level. Move bolt slowly back and forth in receiver and it should drop down. Some are very snug but keeping everything level should allow bolt to drop out.

My 10/22 Target has a recoil buffer (at the rear of the receiver behind the bolt) that I remove before attempting to remove the bolt. I don't know if all 10/22's have such a buffer.

This and perhaps a small screw driver or pin punch through the buffer hole and lightly lever the bolt down. Has worked for me.

I have read where after getting the bolt out, lightly removing some material from the rear receiver rail (.01) will reduce the issue.

I’ve ran into that too. Making sure the buffers out I took a thick towel and gave it a good rap and it fell out
