I've done quite a bit of pistol and revolver work and changed the hammer in a ruger revolver but don't remember. What parts absolutely have to be removed to replace the hammer in a new model blackhawk? Help appreciated.

Good luck, disassembly is easy but my first few times reassembling were a pain. The more attention you pay to where things came from the easier a time you will have putting it back together.

Us OLD guys love the OM/3-screw simply because dis and re-assembly are about 1000 times easier than the "lawyer-mandated" NM.

With a NM Blackhawk you do have to remove the gripframe and hammer pin.
You do NOT have to remove the trigger pin and all it holds.
