I have a chance to pick up this gun locally. I own a couple new model Blackhawks, but no unconverted guns. I know unconverted guns seem to be worth more. Any help with the value would be appreciated. These are the only pictures I have.

4 5/8" barrel, 45 colt.

Be worth more if it's a convertible too,
Only made these about 3 years … more scarce than the 44 Flattop.
Be mighty hard to pass for many here.

Thanks for the responses and sorry for another question. What is the difference between the gun in my original post with the rounded trigger guard and this three screw 45 with the squared off trigger guard?

Last shorty .45 old model we had sold for $850 back in Dec, and if it had a box it would be MORE and if a convertible even more, for those I got $950 and $1250......:cool:

and as to the picture that is of a OM Super Blackhawk grip frame larger ,longer grip for those with bigger hands ......can be in the "blue" and some even in "brass"....;)

Square tg is Super blackhawk. The 45s never sold with square tg super grip frames. Somebody swapped that one out if its a 45.
The old model 45s Ive had offered horribly oversize throats. Were not worth the effort to get them shooting.

As noted,, condition means a lot.
That gun looks pretty good. Late in the production of the OM's.

As noted above,, the one with the blued square back trigger guard is a swap around. None were shipped with a blue one.

HOWEVER,, to correct a comment; "The 45s never sold with square tg super grip frames." Not exactly true. The BRASS ones are the same size as the Super Blackhawk and have the square back trigger guard.

As for value,, if that one is in good shape,, I'd say value it at $850-$900.

It could have been the 1847 Walker that gave Mr. Bill the inspiration. :)

The Colt Walker was quite powerful, with modern replicas firing modern FFFg black powder producing energy levels in excess of 500 foot-pounds (680 J) muzzle-energy with both picket bullets and 0.454-inch-diameter (11.5 mm), 141-grain (9.1 g) round ball bullets. The black powder Colt Walker is regarded as the most powerful commercially manufactured repeating handgun from 1847 until the introduction of the .357 Magnum in 1935, having a muzzle energy nearly exactly the same as a 4-inch-barreled (10 cm) handgun firing a .357 Magnum.[9] Taking into account its muzzle velocity and energy produced, it currently still holds the record for the most powerful handgun ever issued by the US military.

Picked up the Blackhawk today. It's in really good shape except for some missing finish on the trigger guard.

The unconverted 3 screw feels like a completely different gun than my new model Super Blackhawks. I really like it and can't wait to get to the range with it.

Good looking gun!

Make sure you PROPERLY work the action.

(Never lower the hammer from the 1/2 cock position. Otherwise you'll get the dreaded "turn line" on the cylinder. It has a faint start to it. But if you always go to full cock, and lower the hammer that line won't happen. Just a FYI in case you already didn't know it!)

While I was in boot camp in Pensacola back in 1972, I bought my first gun for myself. (My parents had given me a single-shot .22 at 10 and a 12 gauge pump at 14.) It was a brand new Blackhawk Convertible in .45 Colt/.45 ACP, with a 7 1/2 inch barrel. Of all the guns I've had and let go, that was the one I regretted the most.

Fortunately, I walked into my local dealer one day a few years back and found another, from 1971, the first year of production. It's not quite as nice as the one you found, but it is a Convertible, unconverted, with a 7 1/2 inch barrel.

I had that problem as well. But load them with 0.454's and they are tack drivers.
