How much for a used Super Redhawk?

I was at my LGS today and they just got on trade in a Super Rehawk 454 Casull. The revolver is in prestine condition. When they showed it to me I thought it was new until they said they just got it on trade in. They are asking $650 for it. Is that a fair price for a "lightly" used Super Redhawk?

If I was buying one today, I could get one for about $800 from my LGS, based on prices from Davidson's. So I would think $650 for a lightly used one is a decent price. If I could buy if for $600, I would be a really happy camper!

But only you can decide if the price is right for you.

Not so sure thats a "good" price. I'm in W. Pa , Every now and again I see them for sale on a local gun classifieds site. Usually if they're in the 650 range , they have accessories with them , or scoped. A month ago or so there was one with a Bushnell 2-6 XLT , Bandaleer holster rig , some ammo , all for 600. It lasted for several days.

I didn't ask if anything else came with it, I know for sure no scope. I'll check with them to see if a holster or anything else is included. I'm really good friends with the owner of the LGS an I've spent a few thousand dollars on guns from them. Thanks for info I'm trying to see what market is.

650.00 in these parts is a good price! Prices vary some across the country, for that amount I do not think you will regret it! As mentioned 600 is better! ps

The rings would be my first concern. To add another set of Ruger rings could cost you close to $100 if they aren't included with the gun.

If they don't have the rings could could see if you could haggle him down a bit, somewhere around $575-$590.

I give $500 for my target gray SRH 454 in Dec. 2009. It was in like new condition with rings, but prices in this area have went up to about $700 since then. I don't shoot mine a lot but i really like it, they are pleasant to shoot with .45 Colt ammo and a blast to shoot with .454 ammo on the rifle range. If you like it, buy it, you won't regret it.

I paid 550 for a SRH in .480R with rings, paperwork and box about a year and 1/2 ago here in So. Mi. I think you can do a little better, but you will have to shop around a bit. Depends on how quick you want it. 8)

ADDENDUM:
I just checked on Gunbroker and there is a 454 SRH offered that is a 7-1/2 inch gun, in the box with rings and paperwork, fired 28 times. The hi bid is currently 480 with no reserve.

If I wanted one, I would bid on it (maybe 575) and see what happens.... 8)

Thanks for all the info. I'm going to check and see if the box, manual and rings are included. As I said, asking price is $650 and I have a good relationship with them. I'm going to try and get a better price depending on accessories included. I'm also going to test fire it before I make any decisions. Anything I should look for when test firing? Besides making sure it goes boom and it cycles properly.

This would be my first revolver purchase so I just want to make sure all my basis are covered before I "pull the trigger" and but it.

Na lol Go big or go home :twisted: ... I've shot big guns. This would really only be used for fun at the range. Not looking to carry it or even use it for home protection. This wasn't the pick for my first revolver but since it's available and I might be able to get it for a good price, why not!

Just an update on this ... I was at my LGS today and talking with the owner about the Super Redhawk. I asked him again what the price was and he said $500! I was like, $500? He said yeah, I got a good deal for it on trade in so I'm looking to move it for $500. Then he said, oh and it comes with a box (20) of 45 Long Colt for FREE. Now I'm really thinking about getting this.

It's just the gun. No box, no rings, nothing ... Just the gun in what looks to be in "new" condition and the box of ammo.

Now at $500 is that something I should be all over?

*note: When I originally posted this I had the price at $650. My LGS had just got it in and I think he just threw that price out there based on what a new one cost. My guess is now that he has really had time to research it he knows $650 was a little high and had now priced it at $500.

Yeah I think about it all the time ... I'm just trying to give myself a good enough excuse to buy it lol. I'm going to let the weekend roll over and if still for sale next week I'll probably jump on it. I just spent $600 on an XDm and really didn't plan to buy another firearm so soon.

I know it wouldn't have gone back in the case for $500. I would say that's a good price box or no box.

I don't usually say this kind of thing - but this is not a good choice for a first revolver. You may take to it quickly with 45Colt factory loadings - but it has violent recoil and blast with 454Casull rounds, not to mention you'll need about two bucks per round to practice. Kinda like buying a 454 4-speed Corvette as your first car with a clutch. - Wait, that was me.

Thanks for the advice but this is not my first gun just my first revolver. I'm aware of the recoil this would have and the cost of ammo. I wouldn't buy this to shoot all the time, just for fun every now and then.
I'm still debating if I want to buy it or not ... Grrrrr money and guns lol
