How do you insure checked baggage?

Have not looked into insurance for a shipped bag for years. Two different ladies working at the AA ticket counter could not tell me how to purchase insurance. Is there a limit on value as a good custom rifle can set you back quite a bit?

I know Delta marks firearm bags again but I thought FAA/TSA ruled bags could not be marked as firearms inside like the red tag of old.

I have checked/shipped many guns over the years to AZ from PA for CAS shoots. I always insured them thru the airlines for 2x their value, and never lost any of them. All shipments followed TSA requirements, using SKB firearm travel cases. Never had a problem. BTW, my two SKB long gun cases are for sale.
