Natalie Portman will Become the Next Thor

Marvel Studios has announced that actress Natalie Portman will take up the hammer and replace Chris Hemsworth as Thor God of Thunder.

Portman, who played Thor’s love interest Jane Foster in the first Thor film, has kept herself at arm’s length from the Marvel Cinematic Universe since her debut in 2011. Disney owns Marvel Studios. She has been so skittish about returning to the MCU that filmmakers had to use old footage and special effects to add her to the flashback scenes in its Summer blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.

I love movies' I've always loved the movies since I was a little kid 70 years ago and my Mom would take me to whatever movie she wanted to see (in those days there were no movies that were considered inappropriate for little kids, even if there should have been). But as I get older, I find more and more of the popular movies do less than nothing for me, and I find them abysmally boring. That includes all of these Marvel films that are little more than computed generated silliness. I felt the same about the endlessly repetitive "Transformer" movies a few years ago. But fortunately for me, there are some new movies that I have really enjoyed, so I don't give up on the medium. Recently I've watched "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "A Star is Born" and enjoyed both films a great deal. But as far as I am concerned, all of these "superhero" movies are just for the little kids, and the adults that still are just little kids at heart.

A good book makes better images in my mind than any movie ever will.

Hollywood originality is DEAD! My wife and I haven't been to a movie in years. We're baby boomers and could care less about Star wars or comic book heroes. No great stories anymore. Rather watch TV!

I think you are quite wrong. How can you say that there are no great movie stories anymore if you never watch any movies? While there are not a whole lot of good dramas coming out of Hollywood, there are some, and they are worth the effort to go and watch.

Well, I do believe in the comics, Thor is taken by a female so that's in line with that. Say what you will but Marvel Studios is THE biggest thing going now in theaters. The last one just took over as the biggest grossing film ever and it's still in theaters. They've hit a HUGE market and with all the decades of comics have a nearly endless source of story lines. I also kinda doubt any poo-pooing it as "desperate" would pass up the money from them. ;)

Nothing in the theaters anymore or simply nothing YOU want to see? Seems to me - and Hollywood - the industry is doing quite well. if not and there really wasn't anything worth seeing, they'd be putting less $ into them and doing fewer of them.
It's well past the days of Hollywood of the 50's, 60's even 90's. No different than the music today.

There seems to be a trend-a fad-lately to recast hero roles as female-Dr. Who, e.g. The current Doctor is a woman, yes there were female Time Lords, the Rani, e.g., but since the Doctor regenerates.....the Brigadier was cast as a woman a few series ago, there's supposed to a female 007. I recall hearing that in Shakespeare's day women and girls were not allowed to appear on the stage, hence all the roles were played by men and boys.
As William Shatner told the audience at a Creation Convention:
"Those are made up stories, folks."

Yup...007 is going to be a female now and I understand "Elsa" from the "Frozen" cartoon will now be lesbian in "Frozen II"...and so it goes...

It isn’t that there are not any good movies being made - there are (depending on ones tastes).

But, in my opinion, there are more bad movies being made than ever. Way too many remakes. No creativity in screen writing. And I am no prude by Any means - but it seems that, due to lack of screen writing talent, that the only answer they can come up with is adding cuss words to scripts. Like a bunch of 11 year olds that just heard a new dirty word in the locker room.

Lastly, my biggest reservation is I choose not to put money in the pockets of those who, I believe, want to legitimize pedophilia and Blame America for all the problems of the world.

I hand been watching designated survivor lately until I was surprised with two naked guys one on top of the other. Nope that went too far shut me down I don’t need to see in that in any series or movie.
As far as going to the movies my last time was 25yrs ago my wife and I brought our 5yr old daughter and her friend to see Casper.

I saw the new "Godzilla-King of the Monsters", there is a scene where the troops are going into the assault-and one of them crosses himself.
I have read that liberal feel-good movies such as "Selma" didn't do that well at the box office while conservative movies such as "American Sniper" packed them in.
