And I’ve seen signs here North of Dallas, such as Plano and Allen that they are going to widen 75 also.
I’m very glad I don’t need to take 75 for anything.
For about 15 miles, 635 from Mesquite to 75 is a complete wreck.
More properly, there needs to be a new North/South highway - likely somewhere close to Wylie (like US 78). US 75 is already at least 4 lanes wide (each direction), and there is very little available right-of-way for meaningful widening. Also, such a widening would take 5 or more years to complete, waaaaaaaaaay to long considering the amount of congestion such a construction project would generate while construction was in process.
A Wylie N/S highway would give us 4 superhighways going N/S in the Dallas metro area (I-35E, the North Dallas Tollroad, US 75 and Wylie) - enough to not only relieve the N/S congestion, but also address the I-635 traffic headed westbound from I-30 towards one of the north/south highways. US 78 travels through quite a bit of yet-to-be-developed land, so its all-in cost (money, aggravation, etc.) would be less that widening US 75.
But of course, that's common sense - something increasingly uncommon these days.

I don't think the is ROW for them to add any more lanes on 75 North unless they tunnel under like they did for parts of 635 or double deck it like they did in Austin on 35.
They are also going to add a 380 bypass from Denton to Greenville if they can ever secure the ROW to start it.
They have stopped in Celina on the North Dallas Tollroad extension that will eventually end up at the Red River Bridge north of Denison. There is still a political war in Grayson County on trying to figure out exactly where it is going to go. All of the commissioners on the west side of the county are trying to get a piece of the pie.

In town, Sherman is a mess. In Town, Gainesville is a mess ... but most of the stuff south of Sherman is done. Most of the stuff south AND north of Gainesville is NOT done.
I grew up in Highland Village. I learned to drive in traffic. I can't like I could at age 20. My parents are back living in Grayson County ... both sides of my family are buried in the Van Alstyne cemetery. Parents graduated from Tom Bean. I am close but a county over and don't have to go to Dallas or Tarrant County often. My training is in Garland. Don't have to go much more than once or twice per year.
Road trips for me are back and forth to Lake Murray golf course. Oklahoma actually fixed I35 in several places. Unreal.

Just an aside, are any of your folks ex-military? If so I'll make sure they get a wreath when we do Wreaths Across America in December.
