Took my Makita orbital sander and placed it upside down in a vise. The sand paper attaches by hook and loop (velcro) to this sander. I glued a used piece of sand paper to the bottom of a large plastic jar and then attached it to my sander which is held in place by the velcro. This sander is variable speed and the low setting is very slow. It not only spins but vibrates also. Its been going for a 1/2 an hour now and so far so good. Will let you all know how well it cleans.

Well after 45 minutes my casings are like new. Am very happy with the setup. My casings look even better than when I borrowed my friends factory vibrating case cleaner and it did it in less than half the time. This could also be due to the fact that I had new corn cob media in it.

Hey what can I say :) It works great and I can still revert it to a sander in less than 10 seconds...try that with a factory tumbler!

Haha.. I tired using my tumbler as a sander but I got media all over the place. :P

......so how much does that sander cost? I'm thinking if you wear that thing out from continuous use you are going to be PO'ed. Do yourself a favor and buy a tumbler. My Daddy always said "Get the proper tool for the job", and he never steered me wrong. :D :D

Jimbo, I can buy this same sander brand new for $60. Normally I would agree with your daddy, but sometimes it can be done....you aint from around these parts are you:)

No, but I did get a good deal on my auto insurance, and I got a little German in my ancestry. We all know about German engineering. :D :D

Looks like something Red Green would come up with! What a hoot!

Hi,

Nah, there'd have to be a clapped out rusty old car or van, belching smoke, w/ parts falling off, to drive it if Red was involved! :D

Have a daughter in college right now.....gotta put things in their proper perspective and besides sometimes it just feels good to do it yourself. Thats why we reload in the first place isn't it?

Nah! Red Green would have made the tumbler out of an old clothes dryer, "improving" it with duct tape and lubricating it with WD-40. Corn cob media? No. Kitty litter (probably stolen from the neighbor's litter box).

Just to add... I did see a guy on YOU TUBE that simple put the brass and the media in a pillow case, tied it shut and put it in his dryer on low heat for 1 hour, worked well I guess.
