For CCW in pocket or transport is a DeSants Nemisis. I am going to replace it when I find something better. The SP-101 is heavy. On belt it would be Kydex or horse hide for the holster and reload carrier. Rusty Sherrick just made a dandy horse hide holster for my 50th .357. It is very light and stiff. An improvement over even shell cow hide. We will see how it endures. I use Safariland speedloaders. I also like Banach speed strips {they work especially well in six shot single action revolvers}.

For hide out//read tuckable// on the belt in leather M. Rosen makes a popular one called the workman. Other folks make fine hide outs though none come to mind. Any way you being from San Fiasco you do not need a hide out.

If I were to carry IWB here is Southern Arizona strong side I would choose Kydex.

When you immigrate from that socialist cyst upon he body of a socialist state the weather may not be as idyllic. If you get to a truly free State you may qualify to carry concealed. The atmosphere under clothing is brutal for firearms. Stainless steel not withstanding your SP will rust {that is not to say salt air is the best of environments}. A bit of advice is always carry a reload. If for no other reason than to go home with a loaded gun. Calthrop

Please do not be rash and discount the offering from RNettles. His product like the DeSants Nemesis has merit. In Arizona we have open and concealed carry. If the carrier happens to display his firearm he can be charged with assault. That is if someone sees his upholstered gun the barrier can be charged with a misdemeanor.

So in your search for a holster you might consider one with a paddle. This arrangement allows the firearm to remain holstered while it is removed form the person of the carrier. Same with ammo.
The Nemesis dose not stay at home. It goes with because I do not like paddle holsters. If I go to a prohibited area the gun gets locked up. In Arizona it must be secured form unauthorized users at ALL times.
The cops like for folks who tote guns to have two steps to get to their guns. That is one reason cops like thumb breaks. Most CCW users do not like thumb breaks so moving clothing aside counts as one step. If you get a holster you would be wise to purchase a rug or sleeve to accept the gun when not on your person. I tried a few for my 2 1/4" SP101 but stopped looking after I got my Mitch Rosen "Workman". Simply awesome quality and craftmanship. Have been a repeat customer a few times becasue of that quality. A bit higher than the $80 target price but I feel well worth it.

I carry my 2 1/16" DAO SP-101 in the same holster as my 3 1/16" SP. It fits fine and is very comfortable. Since most of the holding is done with the frame, cylinder and trigger guard, barrel lenght has little or no affect on the stability in the holster. Here is my Don Hume 721 OT, bought brand new at a gunshow for $45.00.

+1 for the Don Hume H721 OT. It carrys the gun snug and it will not fall out. I like how it carrys the gun high and tight to the body and it has a sweat sheild to help protect the gun. This sheild also makes reholstering a little easier.

Although not very popular, my DAO disappears in my jeans front pocket all day in a Uncle Mikes and I don't even notice the "weight" everyone comments about...Guess I'm just used to it.

You're so right. I tote my Taurus model 85 snubbie in a Uncle Mike's Pocket Holster just as you do. No printing, extremely comfortable too. In fact, sometimes I even forget I'm carrying. This mode of carry will spoil you rotten.

For a very decently-priced option, Uncle Mikes has/had a Mirage line that holds my Stainless Pig very well. I beleive it's the "0" size for 5-shot revolvers. Can be used with or without thumb-break. Cost, IIRC was about $35.00.

Or, if you want an IWB that is "tuckable", Galco has a line called the Elite (formerly Deep Cover).

Here's my Stainless Pig in a Deep Cover. Size was DC022 for the J-Frame with the tension screw removed.

I carry mine in a Don Hume JIT Slide holster. Looks nice but I don't like that it's not canted. I am so used to a canted design that I have scratched the heck out of this one by instinctively re-holstering the "wrong" way.

Once my wife forgets I bought it I can get one I like.

Anybody know if this holster is made such that the 2.25 inch holster that is all he carries now would be usable with a 3 inch barrel?

I have a Galco StowNGo; however, I just ordered a custom holster from a guy who makes great holsters like the Crossbreed Supertucks.

I will post pictures when I receive my holster. The Galco is decent but the cant cannot be adjusted.

I typically carry a Glock 23 or Glock 27 (S&W 40). However, since I switched to Hogue Grips, I will carry the Ruger SP101 with 357 loads for my BUG.

I just like something shrouding the trigger guard. It's too big and thick to fit a pocket.
