I recently picked up a Ruger Blackhawk flattop Bisley 44 Spl with a 5.5" barrel. I'm looking for a strong side belt holster made of leather. I'm considering El Paso's "Tom Threepersons" but frankly the budget is a bit tight. Does anyone know a single action holster maker out there making a good quality single action holster at a really good price? I like El Paso's work and quality and have theirs and several other custom holster makers products for semi-autos but right now I just can't part with the cash.

Personally, I just can't get excited about a thumb snap holster on a single action. Seems out of place. I much prefer the Threeperson's style on a single action.

For the price, its hard to beat the Triple K Cheyenne holster and a drop belt. Watch for sales/coupons and you can get them for around 60-70 for the set. I've pieced them together buying separate pieces on sale at cabela's, scheels, and sportsman's warehouse.

Not bad looking and stout, plus you won't feel too bad as they get some wear marks. I've got a couple of higher end western rigs, but for hunting or beating the brush the Triple-Ks get the nod.
They'll get you by while you're saving for what you really want.

I just ordered an EPS 1920 Crossdraw with fishscale pattern for my new short barrel stainless .45 Blackhawk. Total bill was $108.
I could have saved $25 by getting it plain, but a good holster lasts forever, and I intend to enjoy this one for the rest of my life. I have a box full of cheap holsters, and they end being more costly in the long run since you never use them.
