I saw a SS 4-7/8" Super BH today and the base pin hole in the cylinder was very rough. Actually, about half of it was rough, and the other half looked pretty good.

By "rough", I mean that it looked like ridges perpendicular to the length of the hole. There is not excessive play in the cylinder as far as I can tell, and it is reported to shoot well.

Could something like this cause problems down the road? Thanks.

JLarson.... providing your cylinder is firm, with minimal endshake and minimal or no wiggle on cylinder pin, annular rings shouldn't matter. I grease a single action cylinder pin, along with the ratchet, with moly-disulfide chassis grease or Anti-Seize Compound. And lube lockwork with motor oil or grease. Synthetic lube in the North Country. Trucks and tractors aren't the only equipment likes grease.

Thanks for the input. I have used Gunslick graphite-based lubricant on the base pin and base pin cylinder hole before. I'm looking at this one to buy, so will have to wait until I get it to lube it.

It just seemed excessive. I'll try to get some good pictures and post them.
