Base pin jump

On a New Model the base pin will move forward under recoil. Then the spring on the end of the pin will not push the transfer bar out of the way and it will catch on the bottom of the firing pin, making it so you can’t pull the hammer back.

I had my Super Blackhawk base pin move forward on me locking up the gun. I installed a Belt Mountain locking base pin and it never happened again.

I've wondered about doing this, did you have the underside of the barrel "dimpled" for the screw tip?

This was about 15 years ago when I installed the BM base pin. I don't remember if I put a dimple in the barrel or not and the SBH is long gone.

Keyle is retiring,, and he only has a few types of pins left.

But many are hoping that Ronnie Wells will start offering various pins in his business.
