the gun is just 20 minutes south of me, so I'll go check it out in the morning. I talked to the owner, he said his uncle had the stock built (wood type unknown) and the falling block has been jeweled. His uncle has passed, so there are questions that can't be answered at this point. The seller thinks the gun is a mid 80's build (he wasn't home to check the serial number).

I'm not really interested in buying it, I guess I'm more interested in seeing it, which I will do in the morning...

Cheap price for a custom stock... If anyone is interested, I'll take some better pictures of it when I'm down there and post it up

lol... that's what happens after too many days in a row of too long of work days. I forgot to put the link down...

Sorry bout that

LOL, been too many hours myself lately, 3 day weekend finally here! Don't think I'd waste any of it going to see that rifle myself, unless I could get it a bit cheaper than price listed, but that's me.

Photo appears to show some good wood but that recoil pad just zilchs it for me.

Did the original owner have a shoulder issue or longer than normal pull?
Or was there an error made during the working of the wood?

But it is pretty......ignoring the pad.
Thanx for sharing.

the recoil pad is probably the uglies thing I've seen also. But dang if that wood isn't interesting.. It's got a Browning look to it.. I'll find out tomorrow and take some better pictures of it if nothing else.. Heck, it might have an aftermarket trigger in it that's of use to me :-)

Fore arm looks like English Walnut and the buttstock looks like Claro walnut. Would like to see better pictures. All in all, if you could rasp that buttstock down and put a better pad on it you might have something. However for $780 me thinks not. I'm not surprised if indeed Cabela's told them they sell it for that much. They would have probably offered him $480 for it.

Huh, I don't find the butt pad nearly as bad as the ridiculously long sun shade on the scope, making it nearly as long as the barrel. To me it looks like a 1970s gun, butt pad and all -- sort of the style from the time. But... No.
