I picked up these in a box that was incorrectly labeled 158 grain jhp. They are all 125 grain...so I know the hand written box is wrong. They are all .3565 in diameter. I'm new to reloading. what can I use them in.....9mm? .38 special? .357 mag?

I would weight and measure all of them if they aren't in original box. You don't want a 158 sneaking in with a hot load for a 125 grain.

What you got's there are .38/.357 revolver bullets which are a mite too fat for a 9MM.

thanks...that was what I was hoping. I thought .3565 may be too small for .38 / .357.

Why would a 9mm have a crimp groove? I would say a 38/357 bullet. Doesn't match exactly with pictures I have of gold dots or golden sabers but is close.

Does anyone think they are Hornady 125 grain XTP HP like the ones seen here:
http://www.hornady.com/store/38-Cal-.357-125-gr-HP-XTP/

I called hornady today and they told me that .3565 jacketed bullet will work well in a .38 special or .357 mag load

Hornady's 9mm 135gr Critical Duty ammunition has a crimp groove on the bullet but the crimp is still a taper like it should be. They say it's a interlock band that locks the metal jacket to the core but in lines up and appears to be a crimp groove.

Look at Montana Gold Bullets....I used to shoot a bunch of them through my Marlin .357 & SP101... 17gr of 2400 is an attention getter and accurate in both guns.

That is definitely not an XTP. The hollow point is too large. :D

I spoke with a Gentleman at Montana Gold today. He said if they are truly .3565 and not .357 in diameter then they are probably not theirs. However, similar to the advice from Hornady, the said a .3565 JHP will be no problem in a .38/.357. I feel confident they are .3565 as I have measured them on digtal capliers, dial capliers, and a micrometer and all three instruments agree.

Speer Gold Dot comes closer than anything else I could find.

I think if they are Gold Dots, you are supposed to be able to see a little gold dot in the bottom of the cavity that forms the hollow point.....do these have that? 8)

Nailed it. You guys are good. Montana Gold 38/357 - 125gr. :D

Regardless of what make they are, I'd shoot them in my 9mms. .3565" is only .015" larger the "called for" 9mm bore size of .355", which none of my 9mms meet. I have one 9mm that slugs at .356" and one at .357"

As already said what you got there are Montana Gold 125 gr. jacketed hollow points I load them all the time for 38/357 and have a box of them sitting right here exactly like them and same size.
