Looks like the original Vaquero model with CCH finish.

Early production NewVaqs had the fake-case-color finish. The exact recipe varied over the years but all were...meh. Worst case they seemed to have attracted rust. My 2005-era NewVaq357 has a fake-case finish that is fading anywhere my fingers normally touch it while shooting. The gun's SN is just over 5,000. It's a smoky gray all over that looks nothing at all like real case colors and is about the only thing I never really liked about that gun.

Ruger has since abandoned this cheesy finish and I think they've actually re-done them in all-blue (same as the current finish) for customers who ask nicely and/or complain that the original finish sucked.

What's the SS number on the gun? looks like a old Vaquero with used faided finsh.

Thinking the same thing unless someone changed the hammer out. The New Vaqueros will have a 3 digit prefix for the serial number.

........ also note the differences in hammer design. Vaqueros were fitted with ordinary Blackhawk hammers whereas New Vaquero's have a more "Colt like" hammer profile.

The rollmarks state Vaquero or New Vaquero, as well.

SN 57-089XX.

The finish is in excellent condition. The pictures were taken with my cell phone.

This is a New Vaquero not the New New Vaquero. It is on the old Blackhawk from with transfer bar.

I've got my Dads OM Vaguero with the 'case color' finish. It is very poor and will rust easily if not kept oiled. I contacted Ruger, they told me to send it in for re bluing. I like the case color but can't have it the way it is. I'll be sending it in soon.

Well by the SN number you give this Ruger would have been made in 1999 making it a old model Vaquero.
The case color is slowly fading away this can happen depending on how the gun is cared for, used or stored.

" New Vaquero not the New New Vaquero"
"Dads OM Vaguero"

Aww, jeez guys, just tell us if it is ROLLMARKED

Vaquero........................... or..............

New Vaquero

AND, if the finish needs to be included, then how about Case Colored
or Blued?

:D
