Help ID this Model 77...

Cannot find much info about it. Appears to be a RS model in .308 with a 18" barrel. Tang safety and red buttpad, 1989 manufacture.

Does anyone know the catalog number? Is this a ultraweight?

M77RLS (with rings, ultralight barreled action and sights). A nice handy little rifle.

Wasn't the RLS a 20" barrel?

The RL was 20 inches and the RLS was 18.5 inches. Very nice looking rifle. I hope to find another one someday.

Up in the northeast, these RL's and RLS's are highly sought after for woods rifles so they bring a premium. I wouldn't call an RL scarce unless it was 243 of 250-3000. The RLS is much more uncommon, especially in the short action calibers.

Interesting!..... All these years I was under the impression the RL and RLS were/are the same 20" barrel length....Something new everyday. 8)

I assume the 18" was measured from the receiver ring to muzzle and does not include the 1/2" of barrel inside the receiver? With that barrel length I suspect it is it an RSI dropped into an RL stock. Just as I did with my 7x57 RSI.

can't call anymore now cost you 10 but formal letter see sticky in the Ruger And Other Firearm Collecting area. I don't think that sn would have had a red pad either bit I could be wrong

The first black pad showed up at about SN 772-85XXX. I think Boxhead hit the nail on the head.
