Good evening ladies & gents! I have narrowed down a new purchase to two Ruger double actions, and I need some help deciding. I won't be shooting it all that often, so it will more of a looker than a range gun. I like my SR1911 too much! Which Ruger would you go with out of these two:

Thanks in advance for any help!

Top one, definitely.

The bottom one's all scratched up! I don't even know if all that scratching can be polished off!

I'd always recommend the GP over the SP if size and weight aren't a factor. So, if you don't plan to carry it, then GP for sure.

The GP will take the heaviest stuff you can handle, the extra weight helps handle those rounds considerably. The only downside to it is that it's relatively heavy for a 357.

Best bet is to choose the one that feels best to you.

Hard choice to make. I have both and like both. If I could only have one ,and did not plan to carry , I would chose the GP over the SP.

I would go for a third one:

Match Champion GP100

I believe that those are revolvers.
All (handgun) revolvers are pistols, but not all pistols are revolvers.

I'd opt more for a plain jane GP, likely used, and spend the rest on ammo, accessories, cleaning supplies, etc.

If I was looking for a "looker" as you say, it would be the engraved 101...only Id want the 3" barreled version. And....them grips would have to go. It's not that they are bad looking, it's just that they clash with the gun itself.

Just my 02 .

I would get the top one as well. As for the Match GP, I don't like the half lug. In my opinion they just don't look as good as the full lug.

And save the engraving for single actions.

I would go with the Willy Clapp GP100 also.

I am not really into the Engraving Bling Thing.

If you do decide on the Talo SP101. I would take those Ugly Rubber Grips off your hands to put on my Plain Jane SP101. I would even pay you for them if reasonable.

The Talo SP101 needs a Gemini Fiber Optic front sight also. You would have thought a fancy SP101 would have a fancy front sight that you can see.

Those Rubber Panel Grips with Fancy Inserts are starting to grow on me.

Of those two, the SP despite the engraving. I have a good .357 full size revolver already.

Of everything Ruger makes, a .44 Special Bisley gripped Flat Top.
