Tough lady, dealt with more than her share of fast and curve balls. Bachelors from Shippensburg, Masters in Shakespeare from Columbia, sailor, hiker, biker, lover of nature, funny sense of humor in spite of it all.

101 yrs, 9 months. February is such a cruel month.

Hi,

P2, I remember a picture you posted taken at one of Mum's birthdays. Perhaps her 98th or 99th? And I remember hoping to myself she'd have that same smile on her face when she made 100. I'm glad she did, though that does nothing for the pain of losing her. A prayer comes for the whole family. You were blessed!

I too will add my condolences to all the others here. At 101, she lived 21 years more than my mom! Lots of life in 21 extra years!

It's sounds as though your Mum was truly a special and accomplished lady.

Mum loved the sun and to be outside, even on a windy and cool Fall day.



Mum enjoyed bike riding, and travelled the Kangamangus Highway once. Never walked a lick of it despite closing in on 60.

There's another photo I want to put up, but first I have to find it.

Oh, and Number 9, being from Gettysburg, she'd take issue with your 'nationality', but thank you for your kind words, all the same.

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your dear Mum. It seems no matter how long you are blessed to have them it still is a hard loss. I remember your posting the pictures of her, especially the one with Tucker, and thank you for sharing them again. She will rest in Peace now.

We have shared much over the past few years, but this is really tough news to hear. I did not see your post and VQ gave me a heads up. I still have tears in my eyes.

Your mum was a real trooper and held onto and enjoyed life to the fullest. I never met her, but I will miss her.

Please accept my sincere condolences for you and your family.

Take care my friend. My thoughts are with you.

I lost my father in 2011, my friend really and it hurt desperately. I see my mother almost daily and I always take a moment to thank God for her. I read somewhere when one loses his/her mother something in your soul is moved and changes forever. I don't know if that's true but the thought gives me pause.

P2, I only knew your mum through your posts and pictures but I'm glad and happy you chose to share her with us here.
 
Sorry about your loss but your mum sounds like someone who enjoyed life. A good life well spent. Who among us could desire more?
 
Got the news today that Mum's best childhood friend, 102, is in hospice care. Pretty amazing.





She'd say she couldn't remember the rules, but then she'd kill you.



For VQ.

I've still not found the photo I want - sort of shows her spirit of adventure. It's buried in a computer, somewhere, taken in 2001, IIRC.

Dad's favorite male vocalist was Mario Lanza and, as luck would have it, I found two of his records at a 'junk' shop last week. They'd clearly been well cared for, but I never had the chance to play either for Mum.
