i just bought a new Hawkeye in 6.5 Creedmoor and it fails to eject the spent cartridge at least 80% of the time. Anyone have this same problem or have a fix short of sending the rifle back to Ruger?

Welcome to the Forum!
I would suggest a polite call to Ruger about this issue. It sounds as if there might be a slight problem.

However,,, have you checked to see if there is packing grease or anything in & around the bolt & all the recesses that might prevent proper operation?

brush buster,

First, welcome to the Forum.

Second, what you have sounds like a problem with the fixed blade ejector not lining up with the slot on the bottom of the bolt. To check, put some graphite, lipstick or other marker on the top edge of the ejector and run the bolt forward and back a couple of times. Then remove the bolt from the rifle and check to see if there is a pattern alongside the slot on the bolt. Use needlenose pliers to bend the ejector, and repeat as necessary.
Hope this helps,
Ted
