I'm sure I'm not the only one that often sees gun related words, and numbers even when its all in my head. Today I was reading a magazine and saw an article titled "Biomechanics of a Forearm" but I read it as "Biomechanics of a Firearm" and wondered what the heck that could be about. I was buying some bags of salt for my water softener a few days ago and one type was $6.09 a bag, and the other was $6.42 a bag so I bought the $6.42 of course, since I often carry a 642 in a pocket holster. At the gym I walked into the section where the locker numbers were in the 40's and 50's, and even though every locker was available, I put my lock on locker 45. And at the store the other day, the car parked next to mine had a license plate that started with P97 and I thought "I wish that was my plate" since I really like my trusty old P97. I don't think of myself as a gun fanatic, but I guess my mind is attuned to things firearm related.

The address of the former Sears store near me was 4570 (.45-70 Govt.) Poplar. My church's address is 3232 ( A pair of .32s) Covington Pike. A former phone number was 762-3030. And I used to write ".45 rpm records."
But my greatest faux pas was telling my wife (my wife-to-be then) her hair reminded me of a fine shotgun stock. Now you think about that a minute and you can see that was really a genuine high compliment.
(Still beautiful, but no longer the color of walnut. But neither is mine.)
And my friend with whom I have Friday morning coffee claims I had a bullet for a pacifier as an infant.

I bet locker number 45 was easy to remember.
I read a lot of books, and when I have to put it down for just a second it's easy to return to my page if it's 177, or 257, or 357, or 429, etc.

In my school's electronics class we had lockers for the projects we were working on; each locker had a number.
For convenience, rather than hand out a piece of paper to each student telling them their combination, the instructor read out the locker number to us followed by the combination. After a while, a group of guys were just howling...
"32-28-7"
"15-45-20"
"38-12-40"
etc.
