Good to hear our Texans are doing ok. Ruger Randy is dry, but without power, East of Houston.

Ps RR has enough power except for the AC. He didn't say, but I bet he has a generator.

Gunny gene the piecrete idea is good but the containers that we froze water in were food grade so when they thawed the water was still good to drink. Kept my beer in a running stream to keep it cool, had two canoes back then put them under the eve of the house to fill with water to keep them from blowing away. One thing that you would not think of as dangerous was pine cones, to be specific long leaf pine cones, they are 8 or so inches long and the green ones make dandy projectiles when backed up by a bit of wind, same where several vehicle windows were broken by pine cones.

Use quart or gallon ziplock bags for the"piecrete". Freeze them flat an inch or 2 thick with a little room for expansion. :)

I am deeply saddened by the loss of life that this storm has brought.. It's bad enough, that people have lost their homes due to flooding.. But to lose family members to this storm as well, is horrible.. I can only imagine what these people are going through.. :(

Suddenly, my life doesn't seem so bad at the moment..

And now, they are saying the morgue cannot handle the flow of bodies coming in.. And the funeral homes are closed due to flooding as well..

Such a horrible situation..

I tried, again, today to see how close to my woods property I could get. About 2 miles from my culvert was a barricade and a couple of sheriff's deputies. They said the water at my place was waist deep on the road, which is higher than the property! No way to get in without a boat. They said the county drowned a Ford F250 that morning, got in water over the dashboard, while still on the road!

Very, very bad.

Mike
