This showed up today from one of our forum members out in New Mexico. He had it built by Alan Harton. Shoots really nice and looks even nicer.

The wood in the Harton-made grips is Walnut, what variety I'm not sure, from Forum member stevem. If I remember the story correctly, Steve lives or visits the Northern California region where many rifle stockmakers live and collects their offcuts from way high dollar stocks. Steve is responsible for several grips I and others have. Alan has had supplies of it in the past and Jack Huntington guns wear a bunch of it. Search posts by stevem to see more.

Hey Tim a quick backstory on the wood, they came off the same block of English Walnut as my OM .44 mag (see my avatar on singleactions.com) I was actually saving those blanks for a 1911.........Greg, emailed me looking for a set of walnut blanks for a gun Alan was working on.........and the rest in history.....

Thanks for the info, Steve! I thought they looked familiar! They are a lot like the wood on my Huntington-built 500 Linebaugh Max as well.
I have a couple more chunks of "Steve wood" that will someday find a home.
