I am working tomorrow but that's okay. I have worked holidays all my life. When I had no seniority I was mandated to work but when I became Chief Engineer I gave my crew the holidays off and especially the guys with little kids. My 1st wife's family is not going to have the holiday tomorrow because my mother in law died November 19th. We are having her funeral service on December 1st and will celebrate with lunch after. My current wife will go to her dad's house and have dinner with them because they do their holiday meals later in the day. I have 2 families to celebrate with and my current wife is welcome to join when my 1st wife's family is gathered. It is a blessing to have such great people in my life.

A lot of people don't think about all those that have to work on the holidays. Holidays don't mean that everybody has a day off.
I have one SIL that is a police officer and has worked many holidays. Another SIL is a game warden and is even on call even if he has the holiday off. We have our Thanksgiving dinner on Friday to avoid the conflict with our kids having dinner with in-laws today.
I was in the Navy for 22+ years and made 8 Med. cruises, 5 were over Thanksgiving and Christmas.
