Will a low Bisley hammer fit a New Model Flattop Blackhawk (New Vaquaro) frame?

I do not care for the Bisley grip at all, but I do like the lower hammer spur.

If it WILL fit, is it possible to get a Bisley hammer after market? Anyone made this swap and have pictures? Thanx

On the left is a Blackhawk/Vaquero hammer, the center is a Super Blackhawk hammer, and right a Bisley hammer.

As you can see, to use a Bisley hammer you would have to remove the 'hump' on the back of the Bisley hammer. This can be done with a grinder and a file. The Super hammer is a drop in usually, but either one might require some fitting to get proper function and safety.

Hammers can be purchased occasionally at Midway, Numrich or Brownells. 8) 8)

Ruger should just start making a Bisley hammer with the hump removed and sell it. With the amount of people that change them out I would think this would be a good option.

THANX EVERYONE! This is kinda what I thought. I have heard of the 'drop-in' SBH hammer. But it doesn't really offer a lot, imo.

Also agree it would be great if you could get a drop-in Bisley style hammer for the New BH/V. But doubt Ruger would do that, w/ their aftermarket track record. Would think it would have to come from a true aftermarket provider.

Thanx again for saving me a bunch of work, money and frustration!

Some where on this site is a picture of all the hammers lined up. The SBH hammer is the same height as the bisley hammer. That being said, it's pretty simple to take the hump off the hammer. Lay your old hammer on top of your new bisley hammer and scribe a mark where you need to take it down too. Grind away and smooth up. If using a power grinder I would recommend keeping some water around to dip it in as to not lose the temper in the hammer. I have no idea if that is really needed or not.
