Had a chat with steve ruger and his group. Enjoyed the displays and drooled on some of the guns. a dealer has a smith priced 125 dollars over blue book. Tried to dicker, nope, his prices were firm. Bought from another dealer and got a better quality firearm. Just had to look for the better deal and let Karma handle the scalpers. greg

Here in KY gun shows are still popular. I've thought about this a bit. Seems to me that there has been so much media hype about "gun show loopholes" and such, and such an uptick in overall gun sales among former non-gun owners that shows are now frequented by a new breed of consumer. These new folks may not have their finger on the pulse of "normal" gun prices. Maybe some feel like they are attending events soon to be history(?) The prices at the last show I went to maybe a year ago were higher than prices one could get if you knew where to shop locally. I mean, marking just $20 off MSRP for new Ruger handguns? That can be bested with just a few calls around in my region.
The days I remember with Daddy in the late 60's and early 70's when true surplus stuff was available are gone. Gun shows lately seem full of dealers moving most of their in-store inventory to a show for the weekend. And paying $5 to enter that "store" frustrates me. I will admit I love seeing the old pinned Smiths in their blue and sometimes silver two piece boxes. Don

This was a used S&W model 39-2, no box or extra mag. Price 450, firm. Blue book had it at 325. And I watched him really low ball someone's Colt 380. I just do not do business with these sharks. greg
