Gunbroker... terrible customer service experience.

My dad tried creating a new gunbroker account the other day. For a few days it said account under review. They tried extorting a dollar out of him so he paid the dollar, still account under review. So he submitted a support ticket. No way to actually talk to someone. No person at all. So this morning he goes to log in and it said his account was closed due to there being a duplicate account. No way to explain any kind of mix up? Totally unresponsive automated support system, no support staff to deal with. No customer accountability. It stinks of garbage. Stinky Poo Garbage!

Him and I are currently trying to resolve our issue and get his dollar back.

Will keep the thread updated with our progress. Has anyone else had problems?

I had that happen about 6 or 7 years ago, while setting up an account. It cleared in about 2 days and there were no other problems. But, I really did not pullout all stops to rectify it...when it happened, I just went away and gave it time to clear.

Hope you get it resolved.

Have an account with them for years, no real issue now or when opening

I would agree, give it time to clear their system

If it says duplicate account then the first MUST be open

He has only ever had ONE account... The one we just made him. There is nobody to TALK to, to resolve this issue. Only a redundant cycle of support queues...

How did he pay the dollar? Credit Card or bank account? The post office actually does that with the dollar when you do a change of address online. Or did, the last time we moved.

Did it actually go through or is the charge just pending? Not disagreeing with you, sometimes hotels and car rentals do that, but the pending amount goes away after a day or two.

Just a thought, have you tried searching google for a phone number? I did and came up with this: 720.223.0164 or this:

GB Holdings, Inc.
PO Box 19137
Atlanta, GA 31126
US
Phone: 770-234-4174

I bet your dad isn't very happy. I know it's just a dollar but it's the principal.

That IS the number for GB BUT you have to have a good working ext number or the system kicks you out

I used to have a WORKING extension to a live person but has since been changed

The $1.00 charge is to have the account verified, I never paid it myself
I agree very frustrating with the back & forth emails

The number on the card is 720.223.0164 ext. 3006
this was for jay zwitter

That ext 3006 has said "Mailbox is fULL and can no longer taker calls" for over 2 years now - Good luck getting through to him

If anyone one does please PM me or post it here

Ok well look at the extension. 30-06. Dial the number and try your favorite caliber slash extension. 45~70 perhaps. 308 or 32~20? 220(swift) perhaps? 357 or 38. 45? 223? Or 22-250?

It is a gun website. They would be just that vain.

I cant reach anyone at the provided phone number. Maybe we should try sending them some snail mail? You know, just to get a paper trail going...

Nobody will actually email us back, its just messages from the automated support system that ask us "have you tried this yet?" then lists more options from the same automated support system.

LOL. Some of you nailed it. Its not about the dollar, its about the principle.

Instead of just saying, "Gunbroker is CRAP!", We will keep trying, until all resources have been exhausted. We both run small but successful businesses and frankly neither my dad nor I have time to deal with their automated systems. We handle our customers and clients needs in person or over the phone when necessary, why cant all businesses do this?

Being the more technically inclined of the two, I will continue assisting Dad with this.

Thank you so much for your support here. At least I'm not alone in this.

I actually had a working account, made 3 or 4 purchases and one sale. Then for some reason Gunbroker pulled this same crap on me that you describe. After a 2-3 months of trying to resolve the matter. I gave up. I figured my time was worth more than the measly dollar. (Although I do see your point... its the principle.)

I now sell and buy through various other means.... Ruger Forum classifieds, a Facebook page that I created for the region of my state where I live, various pawn shops, LGS and word of mouth.

As you might have guessed... my thought process is...... SCREW Gunbroker!!

gunbroker tries not to get involved with phonecon's.
they lag behind on so many problems that they are always swamped.
but hey! what do they care? they got a race team, booth babes at the shot show, and a 7 million dollar operating budget.
11 years i was with them and i watched them push all the little guys out the door for full retail sellers instead.....just like ebay did.
i wont have anything to do with them.
don hall is a jerk and cost gunbroker my business and many others.

Well, due to the fact we STILL, have not had any luck getting his gunbroker account undeleted, we are both going over to gunsamerica now.

May anyone here who tries to utilize their services, have more luck than we did. I'm not fond of writing anybody off. But hey, in a situation like this, it's not the end of the world. I feel I did my due diligence.

Final thought. I'm taking this as a successful experience. I successfully found a company I choose not to do business with. And in the process found several companies who do great business.

Thanks Rugerforum family for your support.

Dad and I both agree. Now we have a joke going that if they DID have real customer service, it would be outsourced to India. And THAT would still be better than what they have now. lol

I hate dealing with customer service that are working out of other countries!!! But must agree, even that would be better than what Gunbroker has now!!!
