I was wondering what you other owners use for Gun Insurance options? My collection is starting to grow and I have been thinking seriously about loss through theft, fire, disasters. Anyone got good recommendations? TIA.

I just have an Addendum with my home owners insurance, along with a good safe, two dogs and a tall fence.

I swear as nice as my dogs are fluffy, they will keep out thieves, but won’t do much good about a fire.

Thinking about using the Gun and Trophy insurance. Has anyone had a claim with this company?
I have never filled a claim, but you may want to check out, Shotgun Forum that's where I got the information about Gun and Trophy.

The lawyer that did my gun trust recommended that I do not use my homeowners insurance, but get a separate policy with a different company.

I've known about them for a while. Premiums are reasonable. Just curious if someone ever had to file a claim, and how that worked out.

A lot of those high end shotgun guy's use them, the owners a high end shotgun guy too.

Question- I looked into coverage and found that the amount covered was the current “blue book value”. I believe the company was Lockton. Well, blue book value won’t come close to replacement value on old models, custom guns, and certain rarities. Take a nice gun, add a custom grip frame that you fit yourself, have a pair of custom grips fit and send it off for an action job and custom sights- you can easily end up with a $2200 Super Blackhawk. Any ideas of a company that will issue a stated value policy?

I have LOCKTON Affinity liability insurance that supposedly protects me after I shoot.

I saw that they offer that. I’ve been a platinum member of USCCA for several years now. I’ve been pleased with their organization. But it only protects me in the aftermath of a self-defense shooting.

Same - I was also recommended to get a gun insurance policy separate from my homeowners policy and my agent recommended Collectibles Insurance Services. They just asked for a total value for the entire collection. I haven't had to make a claim, thank god.

Gun Insurance?? Never gave it a thought! They are locked up in my safe upstairs! High and dry!
and secure!! YMMV! Everyone needs a safe get a good one and use it!

For what is worth I sent a quote request off to gun and trophy and Lockton and they both go to a secondary site which is collectors insurance. Exact same form gave me the exact same price and then this morning I got a call from a representative. Wanted to know if I was ready to do it or not. Kind of irritating.actually.

When was the last time you shopped for any insurance? They all do that!

I use collectors for my gun policy. A safe won't protect guns from everything (and I have everything except the nightstand guns in the safe).
