the industry is still targeting the new owners and the affordable spectrum to move product.

i find it funny how people look at car prices.....then are double shocked at repair costs and gas prices.
now its even insurance.

we know the truth, its a way to make us not want a car and to use public transportation.

the gun industry is still set on (a gun in every home) campaign.
all the time overlooking ammo cost, quality, and stupid owners to achieve it.

I agree....In some cases, even the asking price for a used gun is the same (or more) as a new one just like it would be.

gun sales these days reminds me of the 60's when toys and household things needed batteries. especially those big d-cells.
many here would remember," batteries not included."
the object was cheap....but those blasted batteries made having it expensive.
guns.....ammo.
same same today.
and they keep going back and forth to keep us on the hook.
 
Does not matter to me one way or the other. I am set with more guns than I need or can shoot. Ammo is always my concern. And Brother I have been stocking up for years.

I am with ya on that. I have several guns that have yet to be shot. We live in a forested area that is closed to shooting during the summer. However I did just purchase a 22WMR revolver and two Security 380's, but I'm done for a while...really. Back to stocking up on ammo!
 
As well as models that were practically unavailable for awhile are now available again from what I’ve noticed, not necessarily quality though.
 
I don't think the price of guns has been dropping. At the wholesale level, I haven't seen much change, other than the occasional sale. I think the level of markup at the retail level is decreasing. A lot of small dealers put in big orders so they would be "preferred customers" by their distributors, not they're sitting on a lot of inventory, and can't get rid of it.
 
I keep looking for whatever gun I am interested at quite a few website gun dealers and as long as I check out all those websites, I am bound to find a lower price almost every week or so. So far I have found a 410 lever shotgun originally listed 4 weeks ago for near $800 now its down to around 400. and this isn't the only one that I found. There are lots of new and used guns that are coming down in price, You just have to keep looking and be patient.
 
I prefer to buy new guns and you have to look on a LOT of web pages and web sites to find deals. My Ruger Redhawk was listed at a lot places for $12-1300 and new or used at those prices. but after I went thru 40 or so pages I found a seller that listed it for $799 new. I bid that and NOBODY placed another bid so I got it. Those are the kind of deals I look for.

Yep used handguns can often be a good purchase. Sometimes bought and fired very little. Often sold when user finds a different model they like better.
 
I have a P97dc that I never fire any more, but I could get so little for it if I sold it that I just hold onto it because I like keeping it. The few hundred dollars I would get for it would not replace the nice feeling that it has in my hand even if I don't shoot it more than once every few years.
 
Trends, Fads, Economy,supply and demand and politics The good new IMO is that the advancement of CNC knowledge, better engineering, and better metals are producing some nice quality firearms at previous budget prices. You can purchase a nice, quality firearm these days for about half of what you would pay before in a lot of cases. And there are more USED Guns that are in like new condition for great prices. At least at my LGS. Problem for me is, I am broke. Spend most of my money on ammo and beer.

I have a ruger lcp2 like that I just keep it I like have a small gun like that around but I never shoot it .
 
My observation is that the gun market has cooled a bit on a lot of items - even the classics/collectibles seem to be off a bit. Seeing a lot of stuff on GB close without a bid on items with pretty reasonable opening bids. I've won a couple of auctions due to that recently - put in the lowest opening bid, forget about it, and wind up winning the auction. Got a very decent flattop .44 like that a few weeks ago.

I think a lot of people will not bid on an item, no matter how good the price is, if it has a preset opening bid. Just watched two of the exact same items, one had a .01 start and went for almost $2600, the other had an 1895.00 opening bid and was relisted after 7 days of 0 bids.
 
OK, I think we have gone thru the "lower pricing" stage and am now in the "higher prices" stage.
Have anyone noticed that the prices have gone up??
